One of those who mimicked her, “during my time as prime minister, I have maintained the value of the pound. It is still equal to the same 16 ounces today as it was when I became prime minister”

my father learnt decimalisation at school in 1948 so it was not that new in 1972

Wat annoys me is when people say "one pence". Ffs, pence is plural, what they should say is "one penny". Another thing is that people say "two pence" and "three pence". Technically correct of course but It was always pronounced " tuppence" and "thruppence".

Bring back the old thruppenny bit ! .........an interesting coin if ever there was one.

So about 2 hundredweight to the unit simple really 20 cwt to the ton.
