The coming famine

TBH does it matter.

All the manure spreading ban says to me is that the Environment Agency and DEFRA are nothing but a bunch of @ssholes.

And I forgot.

Most MPs in Westminster think dumping raw human sewerage in Rivers is fine - as does the EA and DEFRA.

Rules are for the law abiding tax paying majority to be fined by.

How the hell are we going to go on with this ?

Iran Set to Import a Record Amount of Wheat

Following a recent drought that affected Iran’s wheat crop, the country requires a record-breaking 8 million tonnes this year. This jump in imports will coincide with high global grain prices adding to pressure on the country’s finances. Iran suffered its worst drought in 50 years during the 2021 growing season (April to August), leading international trade house sources to raise their expectations for imports. Bread is an Iranian staple and any shortage is a concern for the Middle-Eastern country.

The Russians control social media with millions of fake accounts to push agendas
A Russian who left the KGB in the 80’s told the Americans about this even before the internet was a thing
They plan on breaking our current political system through influencing the stupid masses to break the current system then swoop in and take over as the chaos starts
Woke culture is evidence alone
Aided and abetted by our wonderful BBC.

I see that Joanna Lumley has called for rationing to be introduced “to save the planet”

I really dislike that woman. Always have for some reason
In fairness if they set up an armada of u-boats to keep the boats of imported beans/nuts/palm oil/Chinese tat off our shores, im sure it would do wonders for our carbon virtue..

I think she is right. Ration the number of flights people can take. Ration the amount of carbon they can burn. Why should the rich carry on as usual while the poor bear the brunt of it?

Wouldn’t apply to the rich &/or “famous”
They play on a totally different field to the rest of us

And if the “rationing” is not applied globally, then it’s worthless.

Let’s face it, you will never wean humans off their addiction to consumerism without some kind of green military dictatorship so it ain’t going to happen any time soon. Even when folks are being roasted to a crisp in an inferno they’ll want to get on a flight to drink ethanol in Ibiza so is there any point in pretending to do something when clearly the hardship always applies to somebody else and fundamentally very few people are willing to give up anything for the common good.
I’ll do what I can but I’m not holding my breath for any kind of sea change in the attitude of humanity, which is basically look after yourself and sod the rest.

I’ve been on about 5 flights in my life, mostly on business. You sit there on the plane on the runway with a large fuel tanker pumping on aviation fuel. You feel like going down the aisle and telling people to have a good look at they tanker load of fuel but nobody gives one do they? They couldn’t give one and never will.

My brother works in supplying trees for planting. All the big corporations and banks are piling in. Planting thousands of acres of trees to clear their consciences so they can carry on burning fossil fuels as normal. It’s the biggest load of hogwash or greenwash there has ever been. Meanwhile the poor who haven’t bought half a Scottish hillside to offset their carbon usage will be stuck even more permanently in poverty facing swingeing increases in energy bills and will be priced out of private transport. It’s easy to see where all this is going and the usual suspects will make a fortune out of it for no net gain for planet:

you can see why communism looked great, in the first half of the last century, only trouble was, it didn't apply to the high powers, only the poor, who just might be better off, under capitolism, the only advantage l can see with communism v capitolism, is they don't need to get re-elected every 5 yrs, which meant they could actually carry through unpopular legislation.
