Needed an oil cooler for a CAT C4.4, which is a Perkins in drag. Finning £760, same part from Diperk in a perkins box £280.

Worst of all, the payment to Diperk was processed by Finning. So thats almost £500 for putting the same part in a CAT branded box 🤬

There's various ancillaries we source for the CAT here from other dealers/brands.
Starters and trackrod ends come to mind straight away.

Finnings are CATs worst enemy, and are the chief reason I won't likely buy another CAT..............but who owns finnings?

Must have hit a large stone drilling last week and broke the discs off our kuhn drill.
Never noticed in the dark and carried on with the coulter arm dragging in the ground so buggered that too :X3:
New coulter arm (the short one) with discs, £576!!!
Imagine having to replace 28 of them.

Think finnings are independent of CAT, but sole importers / dealers of cat equipment into certain countries.

The CAT product is very good in general, but parts are eye watering. Thankfully on the whole our CAT equipment are generally very reliable, but parts costs will be a factor to consider when the time comes to replace our CATs.

Was a thread on here about CAT starters a few weeks ago. Cost thousands.

From recollection, the OE price was several hundred more than the same starter from the local manipoo dealer...which runs the same Perkins donk
Mind, the cost of starters and batteries overall has massively shrunk since we had mr injector man breathe on the injectors.
Handler (TH330B) would take ages to start, hot or cold, with inevitable effect on starters and batteries.
I don't suppose it meets emissions regs now, but I weigh that against the cost of mining and smelting all that iron and lead.

I'm not so sure finnings are independent at all.
They seem to have the same position across the pond, and the story here is that when both parties send staff to a beano...it's the same people.

Overall, the handler has taken untold abuse and remains functional, like its predecessor.
