It's all about speed and usability.
Personally don't like doors as this detracts from the advantages. But I don't do masses of roadwork. (Most of that is done with the quad which I still prefer)
Utv is 1/2 the time on gateways or to jump in and go than a 4x4. (Particularly without doors)
Butt is far more practical.

Uncle had a little RAV4 converted but still ended up hiring a gator at lambing time cos the RAV didn't cut it.

Not saying it can't work for some, but end of the day time is money.
They have their uses in certain situations no doubt but they are very expensive. I can certainly see their value in a livestock operation where stock are out at grazing year round, they become an almost essential tool. A dairy farm with permanently housed cows not so much.

And are these gators all they are cracked up to be hear of lots of problems on here.

Our Gator has is very reliable fair play over 4000hrs and no bother ... but we do look after it!! 😀

Not sure why a permanently housed dairy darm would need anything really?

How so? Quad is used to deliver seeds to fields, sometimes even sowing (heck, i've sowed 100ha of grass with a quad and Lehner spreader).
What's wrong with the pick up for delivering seed? Ground conditions will be good at that point.
Hardly keep a quad/ utv for 1 job a year. And I bet there aren't many dairy farms that use a quad for sowing seed.

But I said "need". Anyone can buy what they want if they can afford it.🙂

Quad or UTV would be very handy for:

to pull umbilical pipe around or to rush to a burst.

Transporting calves to the baby unit

Moving small batches of calves about in a LGP trailer

Crop walk

Run to the local ag merchant (lot cheaper than the pick up)

Herd escapees

Shelter in when it's hosing down

Moving stuff around the yard &/or land

Taking food out to those who forgot

(Damn, I'm talking myself in to buying that Corvus if I'm not careful)

I also fail to see the value in those Gator things. As above, as much as I like shiny new stuff (and I REALLY do) An old pickup or Jimny/trooper will do the same for peanuts!!
Said it several times before I use an old pajero far nicer than that thing decent heater, radio nice seats etc got it for free,
if I had to spend 30k on a noisey gator I think I would give in and walk round my sheep
