Long time since I’ve seen a forecast like this. However they are saying Changeable conditions in early June countrywide!

Let’s hope so. A wet fortnight at the beginning of June would be just perfect for my late drilled Spring Barley and fodder beet, and my grass fields will all be grazed tight ready to fly with a drink.?

My birthday is June 2nd. I was born in a violent thunderstorm and it was a running joke with my mother that there are always thunderstorms on my birthday. It is uncanny how often it has happened too. You can all thank me later.:)

My parents were married 6th June and they had snow flakes so anything is possible. Just look at d-day weather as well

Having had a good walk around the linseed and beans they are both doing better than this time last year.
We had 17mm at the end of April and no rain in May but they must be finding enough water from below now that they have got their roots down and using what we got in winter, which we didn't get last year.
Spring wheat and fodder beet are another matter though, presumably not as deep rooted, fert from 3 weeks ago still on top.
The grass is slow on all but the wettest land.

This is ours...

That only shows the day time figures, there is a about a cumulative inch and a half for the nights. We've still got fields needing a first cut without any proper growth on them. I really hope we get a dry spell after the rainy one... assuming it comes as forecast... :banghead:

as said before, committed to buying 120 ton hay, our 'keep' hay, will put 40ton, so, 160 tons of hay, is equivalent to 300/50 ton silage ? if silage is 25 % dm, and hay 75%, only rough figures, that puts 1kg hay = 3kg silage, puts silage at £25 ton, made, only very easy figures to calculate !
