Getting desperate here. Really would like a wet, warm week. The grass looks awful after being burnt off by the cold winds and lack of moisture. Only 2 weeks ago I left horrendous ruts getting muck tipped in a field!

Wish it would here, but I think it will Peter out. One field of sugar beet looks like it’s been drilled into Aldeburgh beach.

Could do with a drop here. Spring barley drilled here 4 weeks ago.

At least the kids aren't missing out not being allowed to visit beach. Will take bucket and spade next time.

Cripes these are the very worst conditions for urea. Won't see it for a month without rain.

I doubt it would matter what fertiliser it was.....no rain it still won't do any good.

80% of what I drill in the spring is into cultivated land, I just go straight in I don’t pull cultivators or power harrows before. It can look abit messy but once it’s rolled it’s fine and the moisture is still there.
seems pretty stupid to me to be moaning if you have taken a conscious decision to dry it right out.

Well my lawn has stopped dead. Mowed it for the third time and it is stopped. Ground cracking up.

Only about two weeks after the wettest winter on record & the sad girls complaining they can’t get into their land . . .

the drought is in the land management, not the weather . . .

Its not mowed tight- it isn't that kind of lawn; the colour and density is good but in terms of growth there is nada.

We are obviously not very good at managing water on our farms in this country. I’m trying to get better at it because we do seem to be getting more extreme weather and dry springs. We can’t solely blame the weather for everything it’s a cop out.
