Sorry, I'm a bit slow....

The thing about the pulling on the lead that gets me is, off the lead, she will walk all day glued to your heel. Put any type of lead on her and she will pull.

If I had £1 for every time I had said "heel" in the past 6 years I could pack up work. I've given up - does it really matter if she is off the lead 99% of the time?

If some of the people I know / have to work with were 99% ok then the world might be a better place (for me, anyway)!

Was once told spaniels shouldn't walk to heel, their instinct is to go ahead scurrying and flushing all the time and you shouldn't suppress it. One piece of advice I've gratefully taken on as an excuse for our two.

As long as you teach the command “Hunt” or “go play” first there’s no problem.
A good dog will hunt when you tell it to not when it feels like it.

Plenty of brain cells to cause havoc I'd say, work might be another matter.
Took our border collie to the vet, the girl assistant all excited asked "is he a working dog" as I struggled to carry him in, his paw was sore ................

Ah how I laughed, he wouldn't know what work was ............

Technically 6 or 7 of ours would be working breeds at crufts. Of course they all cause more work than they do.
