I know this is a photo thread but hoping to catch all dog folk.
My bitch had a litter on Thursday morning. She hasn’t eaten much at all since her Tuesday night feed. I’ve given her milk, eggs, gravy, meat pouches. Getting a bit concerned for her, her milk production and for the pups

@shearerlad

If she was mine, I would call the vets to be honest. May be nothing and simply off her food, but after the timescale you are saying, for me it is not worth the risk.

Are you taking the food to her where the pups are, or leaving it at her usual place, as it could be she doesn't want to leave the pups?

I usually give tinned meat as around whelping I've had bitches that have refused their usual food but this seems to do the trick, (years ago I had one that would bury it under bedding, presumably a throwback to saving food for after birth) if this has been tried and hasnt worked I would agree with the above and get the vet to check her over, could be retained placenta or a dead pup still in there.

Seeing as she was half of my avatar I thought I would post a photo of my Collie Snooch who we sadly lost two weeks ago aged 15 and 3/4.
I was told her Great Grandfather was Juile Simpson’s Moss who was supreme champion in 1996.
She enjoyed her early career as a really good cattle dog before her comfortable retirement of riding on tractors and keeping her eye on the cattle sheds.
It’s still really hard when you lose your old friend though.

Lovely looking dog and glad you had such a long life with her

I know so much the feeling of total loss

This is my other Collie ‘Sweep’. Useless but lovely, my fault not hers. I think she could have been a really good working dog but two weeks after I got her I was taken into hospital with a lung tumour before being house bound for six months. So she learnt life was all about sitting on the sofa and getting affection from me and every visitor. Now the only thing she chases is a broom!
