I see you’re using the knot jointed wire, rather than hinge jointed, what are the benefits in your experience? Knotted stuff looks good but I’ve never used it yet.

I just don’t use hinge knot anymore at all, fixed knot all the time. Stands up better when pulling, it’s stronger and easier to tie off as well. It more or less stands up on its own even when slack, it’s not much more expensive either.

Notice much difference going up and down over rough ground?
 
thanks for your reply @nacnud - yes it would be straining from each end - its a tiny short peice that ive been left with by a contractor who threw up the posts for me - and i figured i would have ago at the NZ style tie offs etc - as i dislike the hammer staples like crazy that weve had in the past.

i had issue with the wire snapping where the knot is. infact when you remove the knot you can see an indentation in the line wire that is where the wire snaps. i know of another guy that will never use it again due to it always snapping, it does pull nicely though and as long as you are careful where you twist wire for knots you should be ok

I found the same on some horsenet we did - thought it was just me
