Have got some tree guards to fix up. Spec is 4posts to make a square, netting, two strands of barb then two lines on rails.

Has anyone got any idea or tips on putting these up. What's the best wire to use X net??. Also to get the wire nice and tight are gripples going to be the best bet. Thanks in advance ?

How big are they? I'd not bother with the wire and just use rails personally, as you can never get the wire tight enough to be tidy without a lot of faffing about ime.

1.2meter sides. So 4.8 meters all the way around

Just steeple wire on tight. It wont stay tight anyway. Put a rail across top of net, below top barb and near bottom of net.
4ft not enough to stop cattle eating trees btw

As @Tubbylew says, use posts and rails, especially as its so small.

Flipping Glastir spec is 2m per side. Rail sizes? 4.8 or 3.6 so either too short to get two out of or an offcut that is useless ?

But the 4.8 allows for a wider than 2m gap where the ground dictates.

We had to guard round twenty five trees at short notice for an inspection and heaps of offcuts,it almost brought tears to my eyes. The bitch looked from 200 yards away and didn't measure one.

Trouble was there's another bloke who does inspection around here and he would revel in the chance of them being 1 mm short

Built these a month for cattle 3.6mx3.6mx1.2m high. 125_150mmx2.1m corners and 100_125mmx1.8m intermediates. 100mmx50mm rails.
33 in total and have built others to same spec for same council and they work.

If you can access 4.8 m rails then why not make them 2.4x2.4 square. Bang the posts in using the rails laid out on the floor as a template. Nail the top rail on at your desired height, this will strengthen your square. Hard staple your netting onto your post, use a mighty fencer, lever type device to tighten your wire. Nail on your second row of rails at your desired height.
