The great global warming scam, worth a listen I think.

The carbon locked up in fossil fuels, of which we can only lay our hands on a relatively small percentage to release, is a tiny insignificant blip compared with the carbon which has been locked up in calcium carbonate over the same millions of years, and carried on doing since the evolution of fungus stopped the production of the fossil fuels.
Eventually, there will be so much carbon converted into seashell and then chalk that there will not be enough carbon dioxide left to come out of a naturally occuring ice age. Or if it does, it will be life in a very different form from what we have now.
better start burning lime then

As pointed out above, the moment that any oil/coal/gas industry money goes into any research into climate change, it is immediately sceamed down and declared void because of "Corporate interference".
The money is going into the opinion pieces, not research.

That's where all sides of the arguement come from!
so peer reviewed scientific papers aren't worth the paper they're written on is what you're saying?

The same wailing and moaning applies.

The 'Peer review' system is very, very flawed now. There are many articles explaining why and how, if you would care to google it.
That wasn't my point, though. I was saying that all the arguements on both sides are put by journalists, politicians and business interests (research facilities are huge businesses now, competing for massive sums of money in funding, and defending their positions fiercely)

Plenty of similar bits out there, this was just the first on my Google but look for yourselves, as with all things there is good and bad info out there which we can access. 97% does seem a bit standard and convenient but no doubt this figure moves a bit both ways over time. However, if you and your family had to cross a knackered bridge and out of 100 structural engineers who had surveyed the bridge, 97 said the bridge would probably fail, and the other 3 weren't absolutley positive in it's integrity, would you still go a head and cross it, or would you take your family via a different crossing?
What the UAE was absolutely unforgiveable in the way they manipulated the "hockey stick graph" to reinforce their argument, full stop. However, this piece of appalling science does not negate all the rest of the scientific work, it just proves there is some bad science out there. It is the same with all things. But, it was peer review which nailed it.

This explains how the 97% was reached and why it is untrue.

I'm sure its been said on this thread as I can't be bothered to read it but regardless of climate change why as a human race would be continue to use the planets natural resources at an unsustanable rate when man has the ability to not too............................
madness or fear of change? Only our childrens children will be able to pass judgement on us.

I don't think you can take someone who publishes a book entitled "The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels" and is sponsored by the oil industry as being entirely impartial.

He just gives a straightforward explanation of how this figure was reached. Others also point it out; including scientists misrepresented as being among the 97%.

Hi Banjo, I thought I was going to have to write an essay about the half truths, obfuscations and general misrepresentation and leading reporting of the documentary , but after going over all my papers the IPCC reports it was just an enormous task so I found this clip on You tube which goes over some of the points. Now science is not perfect we are finding out things basically every day, my belief? yes anthropocenic emissions and activities if continued unchecked will impact, contribute increase and accelerate Climate Change and Global Warming. Land use change such as deforestation, mining, coastal degradation, fracking, dam building interfere with natural processes, the rain cycle, rock cycle, sea movement etc etc, to think that our actions will not have consequences is disingenuous. The producer of that "documentary" has a personal axe to grind, mainly to discredit the IPCC and the work of thousands of scientist, researchers, and environmental organisations, which he calls the climate change movement, like it s one big homogeneous corrupt conniving group, guilty of harassment and censorship intimidation.:)(y)

There are a few problems with "Climate Change Science" as it stands.

The biggest of all is the fact that the "temperature rises" forecast via "Computer Models" used to tax poor people have turned out to be too high.

The current debarcle about the sea absorbing temperatures ... I remember saying to the nutters around the original climate change cult there was no way the air could heat up the water & rock in such a short time. I quickly followed that up by pointing out the water cycle - clouds, rain, rivers, sea - moved heat within the planet and is the dominant heat transfer system not CO2.

But of course money is involved. And where money is concerned people will twist the truth towards their own ends. HMG have created a political monster which will take decades to unwrap as they have foreign aid, even if "Climate Change" turns out to be a scam the poor will pay for decades yet. Whilst the rich will make more and more.

Climate Change has become just another wealth transfer system to London & the privilaged. Politics has ensured that certain groups of people MAKE money out of climate change, policy is baised such as onshore wind being inhibited whilst double the cost offshore wind is promoted - just so happens some of these offshore wind companies are run by ex MPs.

Regardless, crying wolf about Climate Change "disaster" has turned out to be incorrect.

A few other hypocritical HMG initiatives such as the 3rd Heathrow Runaway, exporting jobs to countries 1000s of miles away with much higher pollution, all the wars of the past few decades, uplifting billions out of poverty worldwide to create consumers ... just doesn't stack up

If you look back at Earth's history CO2 has been at far higher levels .. the net result ? more & larger plants and more & larger animals.

Lastly there are periods in Earth's history where CO2 in the Earth's atmosphere was above 8000ppm, corresponding to worldwide super disasters such as Meteor strikes, super volcanos ... the Earth did not boil despite the devastation. In fact the Earth repaired itself so good it buried life giving Carbon underground risking total coverage by massive Ice sheets turning the Earth into a dead Ice ball.

Then along comes man and digs it back up ... my view ? ... I think we've done the planet a very positive thing as long as it doesnt get out of control.

Here's to life, long may it prosper.

Happy New Year farmers.

Thanks for keeping the thread going with all your replys as its nice to talk about a subject that's usually shut down straight away.
I know the last vid was long and I only expected the anoraks to watch it, I just find the subject interesting and want to know who is telling the truth.
Here's a fact for you, co2 was made a pollutant by American congress, co2 a pollutant according to them.
it's what makes the planet grow for Christ sake!
It's called a greenhouse gas because when you put plants in a greenhouse they grow like f**k due to co2, it's life not death co2 and has been miles higher than at the moment, during the hotter periods of the earth grapes were being grown in th uk the Rhine and Greenland, which was called Vinland by the Vikings.
the next one is a short speech which goes straight to the point, no bulls**t just historical fact, please listen as its only a short one.

Not read through the whole thread yet just been reading in the first couple of pages about the efforts of man.

And I just want to know why I can't buy a good 100hp 6cylinder tractor any more I think mans efforts to counter climate change are to blame for this!!

Suppose they are a bit higher to stand on when you watch your fields being washed away.:D

My two pennysworth in all of this regards just how wrong scientific concensus can turn out to be over and over and over again. How many decades have we had the "dairy is the devil's food" message shoved down our throats by scientists, journalists and politicians? Turns out they were wrong. Amazing that it never occurred to them all that Mother Nature's life giving first food might actually be healthy. Eggs are high in cholesterol so eating them MUST result in high blood cholesterol. Except it doesn't. Kindergarden science. British govt railroading people into getting diesel cars in the name of climate change and then poisoning thousands as a result.

Cr@p science is the curse of the time we live in sadly. We understand a little but kid ourselves that we understand it all. And then we go and compound it by allowing journalists free reign to publish whatever their agenda is and report it as fact.

I couldn't give a t0ss about all the arguing around climate change and who's responsible, I'd far rather they concentrate on reducing pollution and reducing fossil fuel usage. We'll all be healthier as a result.
