just read an article from the paper, the worlds food supply in peril, as lack of diversity threatens production.
don't know whether to cry, laugh, or start investing in more production!
it really takes the p-ss, and will be totally ignored by the main food buyers

There is little doubt and plenty of evidence that mankind is wrecking this planet How food is grown is a part of that

Things have to change and without doubt will do, not just because that’s what our customers want but surely because it’s the RIGHT thing to do ?

I totally agree. But there is hope, the youth will save us.

There were thousands of school kids protesting for climate-change awareness in London a week ago.

They were slaughtered in the media by various right-wing politicians and commentators

https://twitter.com/JohnFinnemore/status/1096394812159418371

yet for this lot, not a word of condemnation from the likes of Andrea Leadsome et al

https://twitter.com/UnityNewsNet/status/1096818224220594177

but as I said there is hope. One day those kids and millions like them, they're going to be our future politicians and leaders, our future CEOs, our future journalists and media commentators, our future everything

they are coming over the horizon to save us and there's nothing the far-right can do to stop them (unless they can find a way to become immortal :ROFLMAO: )

they will be unstoppable

If they protested this week I would take notice, this is half term so they have better things to do. Kids will jump on any bandwagon if it gets them time off school, when I was at school the girls wanted to be able to wear trousers rather than skirts and held a protest, nearly every lad in the school backed it up even though it was the last thing they wanted to happen.

Ask them if they will cut the number of texts they send by 45% or their internet usage by 45% or what else they will cut, they'll look at you as if you're and idiot, and probably say "It's the governments job innit"

I'm guessing they all told their parents to cancel their flights to the sun this summer and will be walking to school instead of using the climate damaging gas guzzler.

It did make me chuckle that it was supposedly a global protest, presumably organised on their electronic devices.

Students have always protested, usually about something left wing, then they grow up when they begin to realise that the Socialist utopia is just nonsense. Support for Corbyn amongst that group is high, but they'll grow out of it.

Hit the nail on the head @Clive. But there are plenty on here and other
Agri forums that will shoot you down for suggesting they need to change
The way we farm. As my son found out on another forum yesterday.

As an industry I think we have developed a attitude problem

It’s understandable however, for years we have been attacked, often without justification or any good facts behind the attack’s

Those that represent us have done a mostly terriblly bad job of coming to our defence, we have been an easy target fior media and any organisation with agenda to attack for what feels like a lifetime now !

All the really good stuff we do for the environment also goes by with little or no acknowledgement as well

This has clearly worn us all down and made us VERY defensive and unable to accept any criticism whatsoever even when there are facts to support it, This makes us look silly, grumpy, uneducated, dretructive entitled etc - not a great list of adjectives for an industry that expects suppprrt !!

However this could change .......... There is a massive chance right now for farmers to become the hero’s of all the environmental and health issues that this planet clearly faces.

If we all just accept that some stuff ag does really isn’t good and rise to the challenge of fixing things with good leadership that also accepts things could be better and that food production can not be at the expense of the environment then I think the future for us all looks a lot brighter than it does if we continue to follow the historic confrontational approach taken

I agree they will grow out of all that Socialist nonsense but make no mistake, they are more connected to the world and more open minded than our generation ever was. And that's because of the internet and their willingness to "look sh!t up for ourselves".

They will learn that Socialism is a sh!tshow and there's no better example of this than Venezuela. I own property in Trinidad West Indies. Trinidad is only seven or eight miles off the coast of Venezuela at its closest point. You can probably guess where this is going and you'll be right. Thousands of them have been fleeing into Trinidad trying to escape that sh!tshow. Thousands of refugees literally starving to death. Amongst them are doctors, lawyers, accountants, engineers and every professional class you can think of including farmers. This is the sh!tshow that for decades the likes of Corbyn and Owen Jones, George Fudgeing Galloway et al have been holding up to the world as a model example of Socialism in action

This willingness for these kids to "look sh!t up for ourselves" means they're not going to lock themselves into some echo chamber when it comes to issues like climate change. They are NOT going to deny it. Ever

that is all

There is a message we need to get out.
I grow only one crop which nobody can eat yet it supports many local jobs including builders, joiners, mechanics and teachers while also encouraging tourism and being hugely beneficial for the environment.
