Agree. But then back to the other thread about whether 80% furloughing is too much/too little.

Certainly drives home the message to pay for those big ticket items with a credit card. Who hands over £17k so lightly, certainly a tough lesson, but if the loss is shared over a group not quite so bad.

17,000 pounds would give me a raise in my pension, let me get into that 50-60% survival wage bracket! They'd be talking to the wrong guy here, looking for sympathy.
