The hoof GP

In one of the videos, the Hoof GP puts a needle into a bulls foot- above the coronary band into the foot where there must logically be a lot of joint space, nerves and blood vessels.

Would you, as farmers do the same? I view this as getting into the realm of surgery personally. I wouldn't be prepared to put a scalpel to it so logically should I be putting a needle into it?

Thank you. It’s been a tough process and undeniably its cost a lot in terms of concrete, trimming (my time) and formalin to get us where we are but now we are on tick over.
I will still trim the lot before drying off but the times of doing 6 a day every day just to improve the situation and get on top of what was a systematic issue are now behind us hopefully.
What are you doing differently as we seem to get more trouble each yr, yet trying harder to improve environment for cows

We are spring calving so cows do a lot of walking so now 75%+ of our tracks are now concrete. We footbath 3 times a week. Any out breaks of digi are blitz treated. I.e all affected cows are treated on the same day. This has been a big help. Stopping putting up with lame cows has been a help too. Any lame cow has her foot lifted within 24hrs and if if white line or bruising is present then a shoe is glue on.
all basic stuff. No magic wand but it’s worked here.

Its the farmer who does that, you can see him squeezing it too? You can see him doing it while hgp films it ... then the vet visits? Is that the right video?

Haven't seen the vid, but you shouldn't go lancing things without drawing some off first.
There's good fluid and bad fluid, you need to determine which it is first. I see it as a vet job. So I'm glad he did also.

I'm not sure if he's had a mention before but I really like Nate the hoof guys videos. There's none of the sensationalism that the hoof GP offers and no horribly overgrown feet that should have been dealt with months/years previously.

And he’s so gentle, very rare to see him make them bleed.

Hoof GP is all bullsh1t and bravado,I stopped watching him early on.

24 hrs of trimming later 218 cows have had there drying off trim.
2 with D/D
6 with signs of W/l
5 very thick.
Worst cows were a massive fleck and a tiny pure jersey
8 cows to recheck in the new yr
2 cows which whilst perfectly sound have potentially serious issues. I hope to take some photos and ask the great and the good for their advice.
overall very pleased

I thought I was doing good to get 40 through in a day.
