Trades don't tend to have things that vary by more than an order of magnitude. Log linear graphs are by far the best for things that do. Find me an engineer who doesn't use log graphs...

The nearest thing to a free press is Private Eye. It has been cheerily poking fun at political wriggling and sleaze from every colour of political party for a long time, now, and is definitely telling things as they are when it comes to the pandemic.

This is true.
The majority of Covid deaths had comorbidities and Covid just pushed them over the edge as would flu or any other serious virus.
A realistic source of "death" is done by the ONS.
