@czechmate , I`m fine thanks!

Back in the factory......which is in a very strange situation, more of that later!

Mailbox is stuffed with research requests relating to "it", it seems (briefly) that not only is it spreading it is also making very subtle changes to its make up, there are probably 3 or 4 sub-types now.
We have 16 confirmed inpatients and, sadly, 2 deaths.

Must run....lots to do!

i now know of 3 people with c19

a 45 yr old friend of my wife’s husband, confirmed by test but he’s at home and not too bad - fit healthy guy

a friends brother in london - 38, confirmed he’s at home but apparently not in a good way, smoker and obese

most worryingly is a boy at my children’s school - 9yrs old and currently in hospital ! not confirmed as c19 yet however

looking at the numbers we are following italy in a very scary way - there are going to be hundreds a day dying within the next 10 days

That is very worrying and why it is so important to introduce tough measures now. A vet friend just told me it is the type of virus that mutates. That does not speak well for a vaccine or how lethal it could become. Stay safe and obey the rules.

I read about the whole lipid thing. Its why it seems so important to wash hands before eating food. Ie it can get on your skin and not penetrate it until it goes near your mouth.

I still think people must keep calm. It is going to spread through the population, it is going to slow down if we take the right measures and I think they are right to seek to totally isolate the 2 million most vulnerable as they are the highest risk of death. I think other people should still be allowed to take walks etc observing the social distancing.

I don't agree with total lockdown, I think we need to keep reinforcing the message about keeping the distance. Trains should stop, all shops should shut and people should go to food places with a list etc. But I still support people having an opportunity to get out once a day albeit for 45 mins - that will also help the respiratory system

Plenty of common sense there

Plenty of common sense there

the biggest problem is the assumption there is common sense amongst the public! Clearly there isn't.

I find it amusing how the democratic loving public will need dictatorship style leadership to keep them safe.

I'm not one of those people who sneers at the "general public" as if I'm not part of them or that everyone except me is stupid. Everyone will and has made some mistakes over self distance, hand cleaning etc. incl you and me. People were actively encouraged to get fresh air this weekend and it wasn't really anticipated that everyone would act as they did. The people who drove to Snowdon didn't really know it would be so busy and we are all also guilty of following herds from time to time

Each new message will take a few days to sink in. Some people going mad at people walking up Snowdon were the same people doing fb pictures of themselves in the pub on friday. If people keep a cool head, we can preserve some of our liberty, keep a bit of our economy going and slow the transmission. But each new move will take a couple of days to filter through. A week ago people were not really aware of the symptoms, now they are much more aware and it will filter through. There is not going to be a magic "solution".

If I was over 70 or vulnerable I would probably totally self isolate. As I have children and I share them with their mum I can't but we will reduce movement times of them

You're far more tolerant than me, I'll give you that.

have you seen the last few pages of the 'behaviour of the public thread'? I hope it doesn't take many more days to 'kick in'.

Its not about tolerance. I'm just being realistic. The feeding frenzy will make it worse - whats driven the panic buying? The frenzy. We've been told not to panic and we shouldn't. Yes more people will get ill for sure

I think the shops are still too full and they need to reduce that asap because its a prime area of infection. I'm still not a fan of locking people in their houses I even think in citys they should insist traffic slows to 5-10mph or stop all but essential traffic or something and let people walk on the road if needs be. I think its really important people have an element of liberty. Just my view.

Leicester hospitals would draw from the rural county too, although some in the north of the county might end up in QMC at Nottingham.

I never typed this.....

Internal communication that all 7 local MP`s, NHS Execs, Chief Constable, EMAS, Fire, Military etc are on a teleconference after Parliament votes on Thursday. That is not happening to discuss the normal & mundane.

We have "emptied" 300 beds so far and made them all ventilator capable.

Not wishing to be a harbinger of doom, but all those folk who were on a jolly at the weekend.... it`ll be their elderly relatives we are trying to keep alive in 10-14 days.

Ironically the hospital is the quietest I have ever seen it. Probably akin to a tsunami where the tide goes way out before the wave arrives....

Stay well, stay safe, stay isolated if you can`t stay at home!
