Thanks for that,if those numbers are in the last 48 hours you have got quite a few of the daily numbers

Yep, the "hidden" numbers are the community deaths...if a GP hasn`t seen a patient before their death and knows they are symptomatic then they won`t get recorded as a Covid death.

I know all that but I wanted to know how many passed away in the last 24 hours not the last 3 months

This is what I was trying to explain but perhaps wasn't clear.

Looking at the numbers @JCMaloney is posting the cumulative death figures are rising by about 8-10 per day. As @JCMaloney has explained in his post above though, those 8-10 are "fresh" deaths from the past 48hrs.

Back at work.........................
Up to midnight 10th May....
Confirmed Inpatients: 145
Discharged: 589
Deceased: 266

I think most of the NHS is holding its breath to see what happens after Wednesday, hopefully the public will apply common sense and not go stupid and cause a spike in fortnights time, but looking at the images from Tube trains etc its not looking too good. Fingers crossed.
Up to midnight 11th May...
Confirmed inpatients: 138
Discharged: 597
Deceased: 275

Things are "slowing" in terms of patients coming in the front door, that reflects in number of inpatients and, eventually, will filter through to less deaths.
I just hope the public don`t go stupid over the next two weeks or so....... its going to be a long job and the furlough scheme paints a picture that 2020 is almost a write off for "normal" life.
Up to midnight 12th May...
Confirmed inpatients: 131
Discharged: 609
Deceased: 283.

Images from London etc are worrying to say the least. We shall see what pans out.
Up to midnight 13th May...
Confirmed inpatients: 125
Discharged: 631
Deceased: 299

Stay well, stay safe, stay at home!

Deaths are a lagging indicator though , some of these people have been on ventilation for over a month .
We need less cases .

Sorry for all the questions but is that just one hospital or the whole trust area and do you think you will get a spike a few weeks after Ramadan has finished

Correct. These deaths were probably "cases" on the stats graphs a month or so back.

I think we are having less cases......given we've increased testing 30 fold and yet the number of new cases isn't really rising.

It'll be interesting when more results of the Coronavirus Survey start to come through longer term.

Definately , contrary to the gutter press the UK is testing more than any other EU country , yet cases are dropping , which is positive imo .

My numbers are only hospital certified deaths across the three sites in Leicester.
The "problem" with community death is it is reliant on patient history or friends/relative`s letting the GP/Ambulance crew know about preceding illness, then it can get noted on the DC.
Wearing my Coroners and Post Mortem hat we are now getting sudden/unexplained deaths arriving with "confirmed CoV-19" on the notes. Eventually they will be added in to the overall figures.
Its why the scientists keep saying about the excess death figures when this eventually fades away to "nothing" (metaphorical phrase....it will always be around like flu, measles etc).

Deaths seem to be still rising or plateauing.............have these been in intensive care a long time?

Are you better able to treat serious cases, with better strategies and/or drug therapies, now the Medics are learning more about what works, every day

What I am driving at, is there a better understanding to treat and therefore discharge serious cases?

Or if you get it bad, are you still a lost cause or is there some hope, to help the most afflicted

Bit of all that!

I`m donating Blood Plasma next week for one of many attempts to find things that work. Convalescent Plasma Trial.
At the moment it is "find drugs that might work" and throw them at it, it won`t make the outcome any worse.
Currently the biggest problem is people who`s body reacts aggressively to the virus get very poorly, very quickly and lots of major organs are effected.

I recommend everyone watches "Hospital- Fighting Covid-19" on BBC iPlayer........... brutal but real.

Meanwhile back at the coal face, confirmed patient numbers due later.
As of today the Trust’s COVID-19 Strategic and Tactical Groups will reduce the frequency they are meeting and now meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays only.
I would expect "numbers" to be reported more slowly a consequence.

In good news..........

As of Friday 15 May, our Covid Trial recruitment stands at:
ISARIC = 825 adults; 145 children
RECOVERY = 406 (including 1 child)
SARS-CoV2 infection study = 12 (target is 12) – closed to recruitment
RECOVERY-RS = 6
REMAP-CAP = 4

REMAP-CAP are the lucky ones who might get my plasma after Thursday!

Starting to feel like the beginning of the end by the sounds of it. At least it’ll give those that have been battling so hard a chance to take a moment and catch their breath.

Albeit the war to totally defeat the virus is still in its infancy.

Cases dropping steadily , 2700 today from nearly 4k a week ago , coupled with the fact they're testing nearly 100,000 day it bodes well
Is that 2700 new confirmed cases from doing 100000 tests ? If so what a complete waste of time and money
