Hi, sorry for asking as I am sure you have said somewhere. Is that 'score' for a particular hospital or health trust. What does it relate to. I look up the Lincolnshire official figure every couple of days which was 79 cases last time I looked, which I presumed were folk admitted to hospital.

Best wishes,

Sorry, UHL (University Hospitals of Leicester). Confirmed cases are (currently) inpatients that have returned a positive lab result.

Numbers will be changing later in the week as the Government start including community deaths (at home, care homes etc) as their testing lags a fair bit behind, basically you test the living first and do the deceased later.

Latest score (last night- 30.03.2020).
Confirmed cases 97.
Death`s. 15.

Still good capacity and people are making it out. Front line staff are getting tested and, eventually, we will all get done.
It is definitely a marathon and not a sprint.

Stay well, stay safe.

I recognise it's a much smaller sample, but are you finding the number of cases is slowing in line with the national picture?

Early start today.....
Confirmed inpatients 109
Confirmed & Discharged (Survived!! (y) ) 38
Deceased: 22

We`ve now split the A&E in two we have a Blue (Normal) ED and a "hot" Red ED for CoV19 symptomatic patients.
For walk in`s we have set up "sieves" in portacabins where the first triage will be for CoV-19 or not then they get sent along the right coloured route.
Lots of work happened behind the scenes to facilitate that across the organisation and with external contractors.
Cleaning regime of beds and rooms has been speeded up as well unless an AGP (Aerosol Generating Procedure) has occurred.
There are 11 research projects in the pipeline getting very rapid approval through the processes as well.

One moan...... testing...... folk need to think of the logistics. Every country in the world wants the chemicals and kit and the number of approved manufacturers is tiny for the job. Then it needs to be shipped, then you need the capacity and staff to run the machines and check/quantify the results. This isn`t "pee on a stick and it turns blue" stuff.

Back to the fray :):)?‍♀️

How do you feel now?
Any lasting side effects, lack of taste/smell?

Good friend of a neighbour has it, grand daughter and daughter gave it to him (they had a positive test) - anyway old man is 71 and in good health and has been self isolating (in a separate cottage entirely), for 3 weeks (fever initially, sore throat, dry cough, aches) and even now can't speak, convinced he's got/had it - no voice for 3 weeks now

Thank you for taking time to post update. Sobering. Hope all the staff at the hospital keep safe. I fully appreciate the time to set up the testing etc. Logistics. But it will come.

Fine now ta, when "it" was with me the throat felt like it was full of broken glass and barbed wire. Very, very dry as well. Temperature was the worst part to be fair, once that stabilised recovery was reasonably quick.
I guess a lot depends on overall health and well-being how quickly folk recover.

Good god man. What have you done in a past life to know what a throat full of broken glass and barbed wire feels like!?

Long day, relatively speaking, yesterday.
Today`s score (Midnight 31.03.2020, hospital only!).
Positive inpatients: 122
Discharged: 54
Deceased: 22

Projections & planning are suggesting our East Mids "peak" will be across Easter.

For local folk...Oadby & Loughborough Urgent Care remain open and will see walk-in and 111 patients with a Covid triage first.

Enderby, Melton Mowbray, Lutterworth, Oakham and Market Harborough UCC are suspended.

@Princess Pooper not sure if you wish to share that with any Leics/Rutland folk.

Stay well, stay safe. We`ll get there. :)

Again thank you for finding time to post this data. Much more understandable than the numbers qouted and argued about on the national news. Do you have any comments to make on 'testing' and availability of PPE, as again someone on the ground makes so much more sense. But please only comment if you feel able and it does not pose any difficulties to you at work.

With best wishes,

Thanks, have suggested the Melton GP practice puts it on their facebook and website pages, which currently flag up the UCC opening hours at St Mary's.

A question for those in the know and with experience........ what treatments (drugs) are we using in the uk for treatments? I know there are trials and rumours (chloroquin, Azithromycin, large doses vitC intravenous etc) but I was curious as to whether we are doing 'live trials'.

The only thing I've seen recently is that 80% of those who go on ventilators die.

If the UK is inept on testing I doubt they are at the stage of trials.

The USA is doing some work .. specifically with a few drugs but it will take statistics to bear fruit which takes time.

The best strategy was always not to get it .. which required border to be sealed months ago .. and flights are still going on now.

Yep... lots running already, 11 in the live pipeline to be up and running by Easter and another 300+ related trials.

Its been a tad busy at the factory.

@wanton dwarf sorry to say but Matt Hancock was spot on when he said a bad or inaccurate test was worse than no test and one of the new tests had a 75% failure rate which would have put infected staff back on the wards.

The UK are one of the world leaders in small bio-tech and cutting edge research companies, but this needs scale & co-operation a bit like Morgan cars suddenly having to make Mini`s really.

He also "wrote off" £13.4 billion of historical NHS debt....... re-setting the spreadsheets to zero is happening everywhere.

I take it you're pleased with his announcements today then? :D

BTW good luck and take care.

Matt Hancock is about 3+ months behind the curve .. I was watching China in December & warned my parents. It actually worse than this because their planning in 2017 didn't lead to mitigation.

No offence but what I've seen so far of HMG is appalling but unsurprising.

Thank god this virus has a low mortality rate .. otherwise we'd be all dead before anything could be done.

I hope everyone has the same mind as me .. we need UK goods made in the UK .. which includes PPE, equipment, drugs etc. I want to see our children being taught to enter all professions, including medicine & engineering.

Anyway good luck.

I hate to say it, but that sounds like classic tonsilitis, at least that is how mine is every 2-3 years
