Dont worry your little head sir, that's the total for the whole of USA not just chicago. It's a big place with plenty of obesity and comorbidities.
When we went to the states in 2012 we were shocked how fat a lot of the police were especially in NY, perhaps it was all the ditting on the bonnets of their cars on the street corners that does it.

I had a scrabble round in the passenger footwell of my truck earlier today. Found a part packet Trebor Mints, two dried up Chips (still tasted OK - plenty salt on them!), and my cloth mask. Have brought mask into house and chucked in washing basket. Never washed it from whenever it became compulsory last time until July freedom day. Thought I would at least start the next period of mask wearing with a clean one!

Next is find this app thing to put on phone.

Ah well - was too good to last.

If you don`t have the Covid app you can`t get pinged.

Your vaccine status (passport to frivolity) is on the standard NHS App that has your medical records etc on, how much depends on which system your GP uses.... :)

Clearly the vaccines are killing people, I know of three locally, two of whom, fit and youngish people died of heart issues within two weeks of vaccine. I am unclear if these two officially classed as vaccine related.
The other, relative of a friend has been classed as vaccine related stroke death.
A further guy who is brother of a friend died whilst waiting for a heart op from a condition very recently diagnosed (post vaccination).
He was 45 previously very fit and healthy.
There are excess deaths in heart, vascular and stroke categories in the latest cause of death analysis from ONS.
The overreaction to covid has caused unnecessary deaths from vaccines administered to the non vulnerable and from shutdown of healthcare.
Plus thousands extra slightly premature deaths with covid in April 2020 caused by wholesale unnecessary clearance of hospital patients into old people's homes.
Clearly that's just anecdotal. I was rather hoping you might have some proper data available to share considering over 6 billion doses have been given.

ONS latest weekly death report shows 1600 excess deaths, tbc these are extra deaths above normal, many of heart and vascular issues including stroke.
Overreaction to covid leading to overfocus, unnecessary harmful vaccination and diversion of resources.
These excess deaths have been going on since July and don't get a mention in the media.
Stress is a killer and people have been more stressed in the last 18 months. Have you checked your blood pressure lately? You do seem a bit intense about Covid.

Numbers update...............

All very similar.

Still persistent numbers of cases, still persistent levels of hospitilsations (80%+ not vaccinated), still persistent number of deaths.

Hands - Face - Space - Get a jab!!

JVT on BBC this morning is telling it straight.

HI JCM thank you for posting an update. Persistent level - what exact does that mean in practice? Is the hospital functioning adequately?

I was contacted by Peterborouh City last week to see if I could take up a Saturday operation (day surgery unless any complications!!) to which I said yes and am booked in for 13th. 45 minutes under general I am told. Straightforward procedure I was referred early 2020.

My observations locally is that Covid is going around the schools. Had a couple of folk cry off meetings this week as their child has tested positive. These children from what I am told tend to have a bit of a sniffle and a cough for a couple of days. The adults I have come across I am told like a bout of flu - with varying severity. Went to supper last Saturday and three folk had had Covid in previous month - all nasty flu for a couple of days and then tired after.

Best wishes,

Youngsters, as you say, seem to be dealing with it well as most vaccinated adults.
The problem is when non-vaccinated folk, or vaccinated folk with co-morbidities get it.
We are indeed functioning but not as efficiently or effectively as normal.
In the NHS "flow" is everything, it doesn`t take much to destabilise patient flow.
We are getting between 7-12 positive cases a day, got 117 inpatients with 14 on mechanical intervention.
That's 117 beds "out of service" for routine stuff, then there is the backlog which is around 5.65 million (almost 1 in 10 of the population!).

My advice to anyone waiting for a procedure is to accept offers or ask for cancellations if it is logistically possible, just be prepared to drop everything at short notice.

Hope all goes well for you BTW. (y)

Finally managed to make a booster appt last night - in a fortnight ffs. Been 6 months 1 week since 2nd jab - why a delay, had heard plenty of vaccine was about but not enough arms?

The problem is they closed a lot of the bigger vaccine hubs and now it's back to the smaller community facilities with limited space and resources.

Indeed.
Seems to be very foolish, yet another mistake by our reluctant mask wearing leaders.

Meanwhile at work, we've been 'encouraged' back into an open plan office, windows and doors shut and the younger folk in shirtsleeves with a lot of coughing going on.
I think its an experiment, what could possibly go wrong..

Wouldn`t do for me. Wearing masks is mandatory onsite, the talk is that C-19 vaccines will go in the same "must have" as Hepatitis for frontline staff. That might get tricky/difficult when they get down to some of the admin & clerical folk.

I`m also the irritating one who opens the windows on the bus and wears a mask in crowded places and public transport. Not exactly hard work and I don`t feel oppressed!! 😷

I'm definitely going to open windows where I'm working tomorrow. I wasn't in that section for very long today, but noticed the condensation, the heating on rather high, and that, because of the nature of how things were done prior to covid, those who have only recently resumed work there have been neglecting to wear their masks in busy areas within the section. It's absentmindedness rather than rebellion. When reminded, they say they have adapted to wearing a face covering in other contexts.

There are two who haven't had their second jab because of short term aftereffects of the first (not because of advice from their GPs), so they're super-aware to wear a mask and to stick to 2 metres distance where possible. It's all a bit of a muddle.
