The I want a new car but havnt a clue what thread

Has anyone mentioned Subaru's?
Had a few here now and I still keep buying them! You could spend half your budget on the best pre '05 Outback with the 3.0L H6 engine. Amazing tools IMO. Proper 245hp Q car. V comfortable and a properly reliable car - I have always avoided the 2.5L cars re head gasket issues. Easy and cheap to service too. Maybe not the 'coolest' thing out there.....!
Or a good WRX impreza - literally the best fast all weather car ever built.

That engine is a beast. One night on the North Devon link road some chav in a Saxo VTS thought he would overtake me at about 120mph. He promptly realised that wasnt gonna be enough once my hoof went down it was like he had left his handbreak on. Subaru claimed the Spec B could hit 150mph and I have no cause to doubt that now.

You can also get a supercharger for them.... car feels like it would cope with 400hp no problem.

am I the only one that sort of fancies a Octavia vxr, are they all awd. might be step down from a disco 3 but surely even a petrol one would be better on fuel

They are lovely cars, got a 66 plate one here, crappy diesel one though :( Still looks quite good though. Dont think they do the petrol 245 in 4wd yet, but you can get diesels in 4x4.

Does the mk5 gti have the same crap back suspension set up as normal mk5. Wearing tyres to the inside?

Yeah its the same setup, they do have camber adjustment though. Had my previous Edition 30 set up properly after fitting new bottom arms as the camber bolts had seized and it was spot on.....

I don't get the VAG bug, they are just front drive low pressure Euro boxes.

An Alfa with a 3.2 could be scoooooopercharged and turned into a monster. They also bore em out to about 3.7 litres....

Subaru make good cars. Leggy import, twin scroll turbo and 300hp... make a mockery of a lot of BMWs in the wet.

I don't like Audi or Bmw find them overrated but it's what makes us different. I am not a VAG person either only liking seat or Skoda within the group. My Ateca is only a 1 litre and for the vehicle it is it's not lacking in power at all and am getting a good 46-48mpg, am more than happy with that hopefully it might free off a bit more and slightly increase.

I liked the VW from yesteryear, my uncle had a MK2 Gti, 8valve and later a 16 - also a Corrado Vr6.

Great handling things and the engines were all characterful and totally different from each other, whereas nowadays they would only vary by the engine map.
