The idea that cattle are one of the main producers of methane, being pushed worldwide as much as in Uk?

Poorly capped landfill is a problem in the UK, but the biggest emitter world wide used to be the thrice cropped paddy fields of Asia. Rice planted in swamps, then harvested x 3 stirred up all the gunge at the bottom, and the result was - methane. Hence China, India etc being targetted for methane reduction.

As we don't grow rice, Boris has his eyes on cows in the UK. And we'll grow trees so that companies who really do pollute, can buy carbon credits and - carry on.

We really do need to spin this on its head and use it to our advantage.

The on farm technology is already available to capture the methane on the farm. Just need to close the cycle in using the methane and what better than a tractor.

I’m sure you are right. As I understand it, it is possible to distinguish between methane from agriculture and methane from fossil fuels by isotope measurement. I read a study some time ago from US which identified that a lot of methane was from fracking and other fossil fuel extraction, not agricultural.

On the news last night oil refineries in Texas , releasing Methane through unlit flare stacks. Looking through the naked eye it looked fine, nothing there. Through a special camera you could see the gas being released, pumping huge amounts out. 10% of Texas refineries release gas without lighting the flare stack. It was shocking.
And they say my cows are the problem!
