Those check links are the worst part of nashes. They don’t align on centre with the links so go tight as they lift and stretch the chains or break them
That is the idea though, they go tight when the implement is raised to stop it hitting the tyres, but loose when the implement is in the work position. Read the extract in the manual on the last page. So you adjust them when the implement is raised. Then no issues with stretched chains

Thanks for the replies, that is the sort of lines we were taking with the chains, not very simple for a user after being used to MF and Fords, I thought it it must be as if you have them tight at the bottom you can see the arms wanting to twist side ways when being raised, international learning curve this tractor!

They are a bad idea. None of the holes on ours seem to align on centre height to be honest.

People end up putting them in the wrong hole and the chains get stretched.

As seen on another thread, my families fleet.The 1206 is further back in this thread but is my favorite so gets another picture.

Not pictured is the 2 1066s, 1566, 450 diesel, regular H, MD. 1026 and 350 diesel are on here earlier in thread. Also have a few 2 cylinder JDs.

Got the super H going with my cousin when I was 15. Put a few gears/bearings in the transmission, rebuilt steering, carb etc.

Out of interest - is there a truck driving test you have to pass before being allowed to drive over 7.5 tons on the road? Or can you do this on a standard driving licence in the USA?
I don’t closely keep up with the rules anymore, or care that much. Last I knew you only needed a cdl for anything over 14 ton.

A cdl or commercial drivers license, is not that hard to get. Depending on the state, maybe $150 and you don’t need a training course or school, just someone willing to lend you a truck and help you a bit.

With the rainy season upon us, last night I went into garage to refurb a XL roof that I won on eBay for £40, usual cracks where roof hatch is, 2 holes in top of roof where I would think an aerial has been and something else,, all corners and rim guttering unmarked,, rubbed down and Glass fibre applied over the cracks and light holes, etch primmer and 2k top coat all ready,

The 574 only breaks down until I clear the diesel tap filter! I've had the tank off and cleaned it as well.

The Landrover has only recently been pulled out the nettles its not been on the road for 20 years. The 2a headlights are just spot lights so it was legal. There's a chap up the road that works for a Landrover mag and I'm going to try and convince him to do a full nut and bolt restoration as a magazine feature - it might work!!

Which dealer did you work for? When I was a kid every farmer in our village (7 or 8 at the time) had a new 74 series all with consecutive 'P'registrations so 1976 or 77. I think was a combination of a government grant, good potato prices and the manager of the local dealership also living in the village. Our dealer was Johnsons of Bourne.
There used to be a filter coming out of the tank that could cause problems

Yesterday I drove a 674 nothing unusual there but this was the first time in at least 20 years... and the handbrake worked
When we sold our 674 hardly anything worked. 5 years old when it went, owner driven it was always going back to the dealers for repairs. whilst the other (Older) Massey Fergies just kept plodding along.

HSENI names new farm safety champions

The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) alongside the Farm Safety Partnership (FSP), has named new farm safety champions and commended the outstanding work on farm safety that has been carried out in the farming community in the last 20 years.

Two of these champions are Malcom Downey, retired principal inspector for the Agri/Food team in HSENI and Harry Sinclair, current chair of the Farm Safety Partnership and former president of the Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU).

Improving farm safety is the key aim of HSENI’s and the FSP’s work and...
