Since when was a burger of any persuasion an acceptable substitute for a steak ?
So all babies born are going to have 4 stomachs and a rumen ?Meat eating will be a thing of the past in 100-200 years time...thank god I won’t be here to be part of it
In 100 years anything’s possibleSo all babies born are going to have 4 stomachs and a rumen ?
You might be getting the Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat plant based products confused with the more exotic and weird lab grown “meat” which is altogether a different beast, pardon the pun.Not sure about a) but b) works out about $25,000 each!
Sill can`t figure out that if they want something that looks and tastes like a burger
Just buy a burger for christ sake
Not sure about burger thing...
But I know steve wright on radio 2 this week had some couple pluggin a book and vegan lifestyle... it was pretty in ya face I thought....
Aye good old BBC.... Impartial unbiased debate!!!
I would like to have a wee word in the ear of the producer/editor of the said program.....
Or maybe our industry needs to bang down the door and suggest they send someone on to talk about the benefits of a healthy balanced diet containing meat.......
I wonder if we would even get over the door....
Aye well done BBC....
This could be a plus point - vegans could die outThey might be plant based but I bet they’re not healthy.
It seems that heavily processed foods can cause health problems and I bet these are more heavily processed than a decent burger.
Trouble is it would probably take many years for cohort studies to verify this.
Think I read that it was Impossible Foods that has voluntarily applied to the FDA for approval for the Leghemoglobin ingredient that they use to get the meat flavour. Sounds like they’re trying to get in front of any other health studies to show their product is “safe”They might be plant based but I bet they’re not healthy.

Looking at the page again - it doesn't seem aimed at vegans specifically...more an "eco meat" to save the planet.
It's when they start deciding to substitute half the real meat in foods with stuff like this to try and reduce cost I'll be more concerned. When the choice is taken away from you.
“Our definition of success is: we score zero points if a vegan or vegetarian buys our burger,” Impossible Food's CEO and founder Patrick Brown told Quartzearlier this year. “The more of a meat lover they are, the more they are our target customer.”
