I too have to leave this thread as managed to get combine here Wednesday and start my 39acs W Barley but had drizzle showers through the day although not enough to wet the road but damp . Finished it off on Thursday and despite rain only couple miles away and drizzle on the hills got it baled also . Tried some Graham WW next door but 19% so went stacking straw, 197 x 7ft 6 stringers [335kg/bale].
Wheat was 17 % friday so went on and cut 28 acs on my own as combine was here and no one else wanted to go.
Moved yesterday to a customer , delayed start to 1.30pm to get to 16.2% and heck of a crop but got 39 acs done by 8.15 pm and moisture down to 15 .2%.
Currently waiting to go again but still drizzle about and 17.5%

Just to be nosey, what do you cut with?
Mf34 but are the moment I am having to lead off on my own as due to covid the child care plans got fecked up so dad is covering my lads and my nephews and the store closes about 7pm plus I have the days off work so it’s fairly chilled affair at the mo

It's more economically important that my harvest is successful than when I was cutting 2500ac for other folk. No yurts, let cottages etc here to pay for the kids shoes. Mrs teslacoils has spent all her dosh on something called a paddleboard. Harvest needs to perform even if it's not a big area.

Maybe your combine is too big and expensive . I’ve got 120 acre left to do and it’ll take me 5/6 days with carting and drying it myself . You must get bored if harvest is over in a day .

I don't fancy shelling out the ÂŁÂŁÂŁ. I do t even have a trailer. Forecast is now rain tomorrow, and at the weekend. Don't you all get sick of waiting for the "better next week"? Harvest has never been enjoyable - it's just something to get done as quickly as possible.

My mindset would be different on a kind land, low rent farm with bought and paid for kit. The reality is I farm a very high yielding, but potentially tricky soiled farm, with a punishing mortgage to pay.

It's worth exactly nothing to me until it's safely in the shed. And as said, it's my entire income. So by the end of tonight, close to my entire income will be known. Woohoo. Mrs teslacoils is already suggesting things to spend it on. I'm thinking another 1 percent of the mortgage gone.
