Did Simon predict it ?Anyone know?

What, the current period of low pressure systems sweeping across the country?

If so, definitely not, his forecast for July was for a mixed first half, followed by a decent spell of settled dry weather which could terminate in thunderstorms in late July early August. He was not that far out with the first half, though it was drier than he suggested (here at least), but the second half was totally wrong. To be fair no-one got it right, it seems that step changes in the weather are rarely if ever predicted by the models. They just tend to assume the current situation will evolve slowly rather than changing abruptly.
