It might not seem so, but many of us have probably experienced worse spring weather than this. I certainly have, but I have every sympathy with those who desperately need to turn out stock, for whatever reason.

The days are longer now and the land will dry up remarkably quickly with some wind and sun. We will probably all be praying for rain by the middle of May, just like last year.

That's right but the fly in the ointment is cattle came in 6 weeks early here and are going out 3-4 weeks late .

After a reasonable weekend with just an odd shower temperatures in double figures ( just)
yesterday was a canny spring day also , but now back to normal temperature about 5 C p!ssing down properly got to last all day next few days don’t look to good east coast winds and showers highs of 7-8 C
There’s hope on the horizon though as apparently in to the weekend and on into next week there’s better weather to come.
I’ve finished lambing but grass fields are sodden keeping the last batch in with lambs till it improves probably June then

A good example of the how persistently wet it has been is my sheep shed.
It has housed an average of 100 ewes since early December. It's water supply is from 2, 1200 litre tanks taking rain water from the roof.
This is the first year year I haven't had to use the bore hole to fill them at any point.
The water did stop running yesterday but when I checked the tanks they were 95% full and it was the valve that was blocked.
There was 1 day I had to carry water to them when it was frozen and they used 800 litres in half an hour.
