thesilentone.
A couple weeks back there was some speech by Obama that indicated there should be controls on gun ownership............next day there was 168 thousand applications for a gun permit.

We question many things that you seem to accept as normal that would never fly here.

The Politics of the USA never ceases to amaze, the leader of the free World, yet you insist on killing each other. After the massacres in Schools we have witnessed, how does your conscience allow you to hang on to the historical 2nd Amendment? or, if you insist on the ' right to bear arms' then use equipment similar to when the Amendment was written, at least we wouldn't see massacres and the death rate would slow down.

Will Trump be building gas chambers to help rid the country of unwanted immigrants?

His talk about building a two thousand mile wall to keep out the Mexicans seems to have gone quiet?

I suppose he now has a better common enemy in Muslims to unite voters.

Plus, if he keeps out the Mexicans, there would be nobody to build a wall, or the gas chambers.

The lunatics shouldn't be allowed to run the asylum.

It's entirely possible that he will be next president.
They voted George W in twice.
If it happens will only prove there are a lot more thick Americans than terrorist Muslim's out there and reckon I know which lot will pose the biggest danger to the rest of us then.

I find America an interesting place, I have never met an individual that has upset me but some of the things the people of america sign up for or endorse causes severe head scratching.
Some of my best friends are american and we often muse this train of thought.
But someone cleverer than I said a person is intelligent people are not.

What an interesting thread this is, we, the British seem to have strong views regarding Donald Trump unfortunately these are probably mostly formed through hearing media reports from a somewhat biased media .

I for one am very interested to hear what Roger is saying, surely he has a finger on the pulse and better knowledge of the situation than we do.

If Mr Trump does get in to power and implemented his intentions we would all be able to see who is right but not for a few years.

Just remember we as a country voted in Tony Blair, more than once, how did that work out for us?

Roger, in the UK we find it very difficult to understand how a Country where there are so many people killed in shooting incidents continually seem blinkered from the facts, please try and help us understand.
I was told a "fact" recently that since the death of John Lennon 35 years ago today, more people have been shot dead in America by murder, accident and suicide than all the deaths suffered by the British Imperial Forces in the entire First World War.
I thought it was rubbish, but having just looked up various informed sites after reading this thread (33,500 in 2010, not just murders), it appears to be true by a large margin. I find that astonishing, and I'm a gun owning rabbit hunter myself.

The first primary vote takes place in Iowa I believe in February 16 other states coming later in the spring.
So time has to elapse before we pick a Republican candidate to face (I presume) Hillary Clinton in November.

Donald Trump is the leading candidate right now, that can and will change over time I guess.
The most interesting fact centered around this election is the number of candidates on both sides who are "outside" politics.

People are sick of the Washington establishment.

Lets not take each others comments out of context. I like America, having visited many times, however things are changing. The Gun culture is partially to blame, however the ' Dog is definitely having trouble seeing the Rabbit ' . The issues with the Black Citizens and the Police is also alarming. We have our share of lowlife idiots, but we don't shoot them in the back because we don't have guns....long may that remain.
