Yes it most certainly does matter that they be legal.
Whether that be in the US, Britain or anywhere else in the civilised world.
Allowing unchecked movement of people is a dereliction of duty by those we elect, to take decisions on behalf of us all and to keep us safe from threat. Threats as regards physical people can come in the form of assorted ragheads with exploding shoes, undocumented persons posing as genuine refugees but just wanting to sign on to welfare, to the worlds jobless coming to take jobs from indigenous staff at lower cost.
As an immigrant to Canada myself, having jumped through all necessary hoops, legal, financial, character, health, at no small cost to myself, I find this free movement with no questions asked to anyone who fancies a change of scene, or has just murdered his family, unacceptable.
