The most rubbish machine ever used

Talking to a chap at harvest who was talking about early square balers and how the wooden sliders would be worn out after one or 2 seasons.

They got an Allis Rotobaler
Claimed it was slow going on a dead drive PTO tractor.
When it was time to tie the bale you had to stop and out of gear, restart PTO, tie the bale, clutch down again, into gear and restart PTO and carry on.
Bales a nightmare to handle and stack.

Used far too much string too, until they found different sized pulleys/sprockets for the twine feed which made it much better.
Watched one at work once, it was behind a T 20. Clutch manufactures gold mine!

They fetched a small deck screen in to my job to run along side our trommel to see if it would screen the compost to fines. My mother could have sifted flour quicker and better .
They even had a lad with an air line dangling off it at one point to try and keep the holes clear !
Funniest day at work i ever had.

Dad made a “machine“ to top and tail carrots about 20yr ago. Consisted of a flat belt from which carrots were picked off and placed on an angled flighted belt, this angled belt presented the carrots end first to an angle grinder fitted with a circular saw blade.

no one wanted to use it coz the blade vibrated horrendously, covered everyone within a 10m radius with carrot purée, took forever and kept tripping the electrics.

he even tried to sell it. ?

Ah the good old Allis Roto Baler, only sold ours this centuary. Dad got a FE35 to use on ours (after trying a fergy 20) great machine but hay had to be properly ready, and the correct thin sisal twine. Us kids got the job of rolling the bales half a roll in the field every couple of days if they had not been collected. stacked in shed like square bales, never had any bother, mind they was flat like a shredded wheat come time to use them:ROFLMAO:
Had a ball coupling to the drawbar, ahead of its time.

Our neighbour had one and he made an arm for the fergy grubbed that went out the side it had three wee tines on it and he drove up to the bale and lifted the arms and rolled the bale over the half turn

Ha, must have got the wrong model, TRX400 that almost always rows a trailer, 6000hrs ,never been apart, eh!!! ?

Big Red, TRX300, TRX350, TRX420 all notorious for rear axles. The internet is full of their issues, and easily gotten replacement parts...

My neighbours 500 shat it's rear axle at 9months old last year, and the one before it went at 18months

Grass cutting machines that have to rely on shearbolt protection. Utter pi$h.
Or mowers that burn belts out

Anyone tried the little honing tools that fit a drill off ebay ? I bought one to tidy a motorcycle barrel up it was only on a 9v drill and twisted up like a pretzel after 2 seconds

Was it Browns Buzzard
Browns Buzzard made an orange coloured flat 8 grab I had the dubious pleasure of using one on a b414 not many much of a power sh!t gear box or forward reverse lever either. We also had the yellow bale sledge which you had to “ride” making sure the bales went down the right channel and then they stayed the riding on the string side so when you came to stack them there was 8 in flat 8 .
We also had a green Taylor 48 carrier which was poor . The problem with the kit was it was some of the 1st flat 8 stuff out and the problems hadn’t been ironed out
