The muscles at the backs of my legs from my knees down continuously ache?

I sell firewood which entails lifting lengths of cordwood on to my firewood processor.As I am now 71 I am wondering if the lifting is what is effecting my leg muscles, and apart from giving up my small firewood business, is there anything I can do to help relieve my aching leg muscles.
Any suggestions welcome.

Ask your GP to arrange an ultrasound just to check that the blood circulation to your legs is OK. If all is well then get your back scanned as another possibility is spinal cord compression due to wear & tear and/or arthritis. Try wearing a back support belt while heaving wood about.

Ask your GP for a blood test see what the cell count for vitamin B 12
I had real bad back ache last summer and sciatica pains down my legs, I put it down to doing a lot of physical work .
In the end went to the GP end up having x rays which was all good .
Then I had blood test my B12 was very low was put a course of tablets for 3 months and now take a supplement table every morning
back fit and well now .

Had similar and it Spread to my lower back. Was dating a nurse at the time and she surgested stretching a few times a day. Even now my back gets tight but if I lock my legs back and bend until the tendons burn from stretching fir ten minutes it relieves my back no end. Get it now mainly from the standing and lack of movement so no more farm sales or talking over a farm gate.
