The new Nissan Navarra for 2021

Really? They were a bit hasty announcing their retreat then.
Yes Renault own a big % of mitshubishi

No idea what that means for Mitsubishi pickups probably end up with some more badge engineered models like the Renault Alaskan andMercedes pickup

Surely galvanising them cannot be inconceivable, we had a Saab 9000 which had a galvanised chassis.
If Nissan were ever serious about the longevity and durability of their chassis they would have used a better paint coating [not hard to do, their body panels are well protected] a larger stronger box section and not have stamped so many completely unnecessary holes in the sidewalls in the dirtiest and wettest areas.

That's all very hot off the press. As I said though, it will cost them a fortune to rebuild their credibility and dealer network, so we'll see if they go through with it at this late stage.

Its almost unthinkable that in 12 months the Renault Nissan alliance that includes Mitsubishi would go from offering 5 pickups in Europe to none.

I hope that somewhere down the line there is a plan. It not been said the Navara is being discontinued, they are just not offering the new heavily facelifted model here for now. Granted its not looking good, but maybe between them all there is a plan to offer something down the line

Perhaps this is the nirvana for the pick up as we know it! Unless the electric ones can cut the mustard and attract new customers

What are those then, with panel vans ?
Similar list as with all modern vehicles, gearboxes and engines mostly. Vivaro is renowned for injectors welding themselves into the head and needing a new head as an example, isn't the Trafic the exact same beast?
Buy new and replace when warranty expires or buy used on the understanding a big bill is very possible. Just the same as pickups.
I have a Navara and a Vivaro, repairs on the Vivaro are equal to purchase price. Navara hasn't broken yet

Sadly that’s true but the truth is once customers realise they are being sold sh*te they vote with their feet, hence the drop off of sales so have they really won ?
If you want a pickup there's no other option though so they may not have won but have they really lost as i don't think they are bothered about what is a small less profitable market.

Trouble with vans is most use car engines and gearboxes.

A van wont do the same work as a pickup. Like to see a van out through a muddy field with a quad trailer behind to gather up a new born calf or pullin a tri axle fully loaded with heavy cows

That depends on the van... I see plenty of utility company large vans loaded up to the gunnels with tools, permanently attached to a plant trailer carrying a digger, buckets, bollards and signs, then driven like it was stolen for 200k miles by an uncaring Neandertal. Permanently grossing up at somewhere around the 6 tons plus mark, that is far harder work than almost any pickup could possibly imagine.

Ask the lads driving how often they are in the garage though it'd put you right off.

You want it to last for ever, they want it to last a certain amount of time so they can keep selling them. If they made them indestructible they wouldn’t sell so many and go bust. All vehicles are built now with a life span. 10 years as a rule of thumb I believe.
Toyota , still going ,and they take some beating

I have been farming for all my life, been driving for 40 of them.
Could I have done it without 4x4? Yes and for the most part my daily drive has been a Cabstar.
Could I have done it without a van? No chance.
