Fiat Fullback ? (rebadged L200).
Ssanyong, but they're also hanging on a very shoogly peg.
Fullback was discontinued due to poor sales at least a year ago. Mitsubishi are pulling out of Europe, so L200 is not long for this Continent.

Yes, Ssangyong has recently filed for bankruptcy or whatever companies do when they run out of money in Korea.
Nissan/Reanult are pulling out and Mercedes gave up trying, because they couldn't sell them, full stop. Yes, VW has also gone from the game but will badge engineer a new Ford truck at some point in the future….maybe.
A Land Rover pickup or chassis-cab is very unlikely indeed to happen, if only because the Defender doesn't have a separate chassis.

Choice is narrowing very significantly and it is possible that as a result, prices will rise equally significantly by the end of next year.
There are also doubts about whether pickups/commercials will fall under the electrification remit where Diesel engines will be banned for new vehicles from 2030. There is no point developing ever cleaner Diesel engines for Europe when they are also forced to invest so much in electric vehicles so soon.

Doesn’t surprise me as virtually every model they have released has had a fatal flaw and you cant go on shafting your customers indefinitely. D22 popped engines for fun, Nissan denied all blame until embarrassed on Watchdog nationally but most buyers were left with a worthless pickup even if the engine didn’t blow because of its reputation. The d40 had chassis snapping problems again although they stepped up to their responsibilities better that time, their reputation was severely damaged. A lot of people wouldn’t go near them and theor residuals are the poorest of the sector because of this.

Its bad news for pickup users, with only Toyota, Ford and Isuzu left prices will undoubtedly rise.

Personally I am quite disappointed, on my second Navara now and would have replaced it like for like no doubt in time. I have found them extremely reliable overall, very comfortable and good on fuel. Its also the best looking pickup thats on offer I think, although I am not a fan of the current facelift alloy wheels.

Will Nissan now follow Mitsubishi out of Europe entirely? Europes car offering is now getting far more biased towards European manufacturers, at a guess the PSA and VAG group’s must have the majority the market overall now. Less choice will only mean one thing, higher prices.

For all the politicking otherwise, the future of the Sunderland Nissan factory must be in considerable doubt. Honda is closing its UK factory imminently and quite frankly I wouldn't be at all surprised if Honda was the next to pull out of Euope. Toyota's factories in the UK are also on thin ice while it is almost certain that Vauxhall will be closing their car factory in the next year or so and their van factory by 2026.
I doubt whether Nissan will pull out of selling cars in Europe though nor Toyota and Stellantis are now pure European seeing as Vauxhall-Opel and Fiat/Chrysler as well as the PSA Group are all in the one big group. Stellantis must surely shut down some plants on mainland Europe as well as the probable shutting down of the Vauxhall plants.

You must have one of the few that hasn't snapped its chassis yet, my ranger chews up gearboxes instead

I have never kept them long enough, but yes it is a huge flaw they have, but others have been known to snap as well.

Pretty much every pickup on offer has a flaw somewhere according to threads on here, nisaan’s was the chassis on the D40. We don’t know if the current model is affected in the same way. I guess if they are the first ones wont be far off by now, the oldest will be close to 6 years old now, so a couple more would be danger territory if they are to fail in the same way.

The chassis on the navara has an extra plate welded in where the weak spot was so may last a little longer, so I've been told. Tbh all pickup chassis are crap unless you get them protected from new. I bought my hilux at four year old and never got round to coating the chassis with anything. It'll be 11 year old next mot and will need some welding on chassis.

Mitsubishi are in talks of reversing that idea and building cars in France now

Surely galvanising them cannot be inconceivable, we had a Saab 9000 which had a galvanised chassis.

Farmers will then buy Panel Vans, like their european farming cousins

VW T6 4motion anyone?
Strangely enough I’ve just sold my 12 plate 3.2 Ranger due the potential risk of engine failure.
And replaced it with a 2.0L SWB Renault Trafic 145. It ticks a lot of boxes, despite being a different kind of compromise to a pickup. Far better mileage, far more room and security in the back, a lot quicker, really civilised for a van, But only 2t towing, 50 limit on country roads, and not fantastic when manoeuvring on snow.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire.
Vans are saddled with their own set of catastrophes.
