I'm sure it was on here a while ago. And I think there was a thread by the author doing research for said article.... Or something like that.

An interesting read that makes some valid observations IMVHO. However the dogmatic anti badger cull stance rather tarnishes the credibility of the source in my view.

I read it a while ago, iirc I thought it was very biased propaganda. But it did make a few good points, and the NFU would be silly to just completely ignore it.

So the kerbs trial (the first reference) found badger culling to be ineffective in controlling TB in cattle?

If that's not taking something out of context!

It's the old divide and conquer in my opinion. Wrap some truths up in a tissue of lies, keep repeating it and folks will believe it must be true.

Yes the NFU Has its many faults but was around in similar form well before globalisation became an issue.

The ethical consumer website is a bastion of complete lunacy however you want to look at it. There is barely a single issue which escapes their glare, look at the extensive list of basically everything they despise on the left hand side of the page. It is all bilge aimed at muppets with more money than sense and little pragmatism or grasp on reality.

It was however a carefully worded article that when read could give you the opinion that you agreed with it if you weren't careful. Very dangerous IMO, never underestimate the power of the NFU to lobby parliament on behalf of farmers and whilst most would find some bits of the NFU they disagree with ( different sectors disagree with different bits) to split it up would be fatal to the farming industry. One of the statements in the article said that it was easy to get farmers to agree on what they didn't want but difficult to agree what they did and there lies the problem for the NFU, very difficult to represent the whole industry but infact they probably achieve it fairly well. I certainly think that without them a lot of the environmental groups would get their way, it's worth listening to their points and co-operate but don't give them power. Divided we fall.
