The last talks process produced some sort of "cooling off" mechanism, so effectively a number of weeks before any substantive action has to be taken regarding the future of Stormont etc.

Election in early May so the assembly would have been breaking up in early April, leaving only 2 months for them to kick the can down the road. TBH the DUP had talked about it for so long they had to do something.

Boris Johnson, says it is "crazy to have checks on goods circulating within the UK's single market" Rather begs the question why on earth he signed up to precisely that - and sold it as a "fantastic deal...

So with a May election, it’s not to long till the most poison pill of all, might have to be swallowed by the DUP in particular. The lovely Michelle as FM. That if it comes to pass, will be a seminal date in the tumultuous history of NI.

I’m just relieved that there’s 64 pages to this thread in one complete year , I couldn’t understand why it be so long in 24 hours til I realised it’s a year old

I fear that will be the case, whether the DUP would nominate a deputy or not is debatable.

But the only reason Claire Bailey bill is on the books is because Poots had his head that far up his ass, denying that climate change is happening, that he failed to bring a bill that would be farmer friendly, on till it was too late. Also to forgive me if I didn't pick up that was what you were talking about as it was not only SF that has supported it

Didn't he blame his civil servants for the pace of compiling the department climate change bill?
Bailey I suspect would have introduced her own bill even if the Department bill was published before hers.

he did blame the CS for it, but he the man in charge of them and it a poor leader who blames his workers. had he put more effort into getting the bill done, it would have been done. (also the CS is a very soft target to blame as the can't answer back)

don't think Bailey would/could have brought her own bill, as I don't think it the done thing to introduced a private members bill after a government one. she would have tried to all amendments to it
