The NI/ROI Protocol

Arlene and Charlie Lawson chap from Coronation St, had some job on their hands today, to try give the impression, that hoards of thousands, turned out to see the bands in the Armagh parade today.
Poor auld Charlie was hangin for a few pints, but had to keep up appearances for the camera. 😂😂😂
As a man with no affiliation with any political associations I still think that everyone should be careful not to offend good folks who celebrate the 12th and just enjoy a day out marking a part of history.
The day is unfortunately tarnished by the types who use it as an excuse to flare tension.
Allowing flags and pictures/effigies to be mocked or placed on bonfires in the spring or the summer isn't acceptable regardless of who is doing it or what flags they are.

EU launches legal action against a country for breaching the promises in an agreement it signed.

You might not like the agreement, you might think the British government was wrong to sign it, but the facts are that that is what the UK agreed to to 'Get Brexit done.

Setting aside that the EU is utterly hypocritical in the fact that it ignores some parts of 'international law' and pays a lot of attention to others... just out of interest, because I've read the whole shebang, tell us where the UK - or the EU for that matter - is bound irrevocably by the agreement, won't you?

Also interested as to why, if you support the 'agreement' you don't approve of it; meaning Art. 16 being used as intended...

Haven't read the agreement and don't intend to so I'm not sure of the wording of A 16, but if it's been agreed by both parties why would the EU complain about it being used by UK to alleviate the problems caused by the nip.
Iirc the EU have already used it to stop vaccines coming into NI from ROI.

They should have implemented it in full, if there were still problems ( the ones the UK government assured the EU wouldn't happen) then that's exactly what A16 was intended for.

Laughed when I heard Rishi say he wouldn't renegotiate the Aussie trade deal because " you should uphold the agreements you sign"😂😂😂

A16 was on the options list for 4 hours until Barnier told them it wasn't applicable in that situation. He was reported to be furious it was even discussed.
It was never implemented.
Boris threatened it before then, it was never implemented.
A16 has never been implemented by anyone. Yet.

Would that be the same Michelle Barnier who ran his French Presidential campaign on the basis of France taking back control of it's courts from the EU?

A fine and principled gentleman obviously! :ROFLMAO:
He is actually, but his party is the equivalent of the Conservatives.
How far would a younger Ken Clarke or Heseltine get now?

Update on Defending the Union of the UK, Ending the Northern Ireland Protocol

Dear fellow Pro-unionists

Little noticed by the media, the EU has threatened infringement proceedings against the UK for failing to implement checks on goods moving from Northern Ireland to Great Britain. Yes - you read that correctly - from NI to GB (not just GB to NI)!

This is a marked escalation in the battle for our union. It has nothing to do with the protection of EU interests. It is vindictive and designed to further the success the EU has already had in breaking Northern Ireland out of the United Kingdom.

It does, however, offer our government the opportunity to ditch the Protocol and to do so entirely in compliance with international law.

Please read this letter of mine, published in the Belfast Newsletter this morning:

Please spread the word far and wide.

Many thanks and best wishes

Ben Habib
