I had an email off DPD after Xmas saying deliveries to NI were being suspended , 1 , their margins are so tight any disruption would make it uneconomic and 2 , they're owned by La Poste .........

The missus has tried to get numerous things delivered from the mainland since 1st January. To date hasn't been successful with any of them. The latest is a sofa. Having received one from Mayfair in September, and having been told last month that they would no longer deliver to our postcode, she sourced one from another website which agreed to deliver. Email this morning to say they can't find a courier to do it, and have cancelled the order.

It's not all food, seeds and plants. It appears to be everything she tries to order. To say she is bouncing mad would be an understatement.

my wife tried to order something from the EU only to have the order cancelled. Reason being the changing relationship between eu and uk , meant they weren’t delivering to uk addresses.

so much for the best of both worlds can’t get stuff from mainland Britain or mainland EU?!

Missus ordered a pack of 12 self build chairs last year from spain. She thinks delivery cost less than 30 quid.

Now it's 200. (If they follow through with the order). She tells me Mayoral, another favourite Spanish brand of kids clothes is no longer delivering.

How come people expect to have the same access to the organisation they left. What level of intellegince do one need to know that if you get out of something moving along you will be left there waiting for the next lift to take you. It is so childish and immature to be expecting the eu to accept goods from a now third country, The Gov had promised people bigger and better trade, that the world was waiting to do trades with UK. Why be crying at the door of the eu now if the other is available
At the same time the Eu must not expect a reciprocal arrangement. Perhaps one day there may be agreement but it will take a big shift in attitude.
We do not like the club we just left, nor their principles, but until they drop their protectionist principles and come down to earth the economies of Europe will suffer. The crux of the matter all hinges on their ability to control events and when that fails the organisation will crumble. Then , and only then, will this problem resolve itself.

Yeh , because you've left you think 27 others have to change for you!
I've got news, the EU is a consensus, it's not perfect as it works on majority. It's why you're on the outside pissing in and were on the inside pissing out. Your gonna get wet!
Foxtrot Oscar to WTO and you'll drowning🙋

Alexander Pope famously said

A little learning is a dangerous thing;
Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring:
There shallow draughts intoxicate the brain,
And drinking largely sobers us again.

I think he foresaw half informed Brexiteers!

Maybe @Ashtree would know

No issue getting stuff to ROI from EU. Getting stuff from Amazon is now more expensive and takes much longer, as it’s supplied from UK.
Mate runs a hardware business. Reckoned 60% of stuff would have come from UK distribution centres. Now it appears it’s coming from distribution centres in Netherlands.
Mrs. says lots of household stuff, cleaning, toiletries, general stuff, etc is clearly different now. Presumably it’s also now not UK sourced.
Of much greater concern though, is local off licence English beer section is completely devoid of English beers. 🤨

I havent heard of much complaints from the Eu about trading arrangments with the UK but I could be wrong.. The agreement was agreed in the end of Dec 20.and i think it was explained and widely advertised within the Eu that trading in and out of the UK would be more difficult. Companies within the Uk are complaining the most and seem surprised at the difficulties encountered. You are of the opinion that the Eu ability to control events will fail sometime in the future and if your correct then I would like know why so many companies still want to trade there. Instead of begging to get back in why hasent the Gov set up all these wonderful deals that Johnson has said the UK would prosper mightly.
As far as the problem to resolve itself, and considering that 27 countries meet and agree a programe of events every day and every year I have to say their model seems to be ok also.

The criminal mistake was for our government to offer unrestricted entry to foreign lorries at least until April so the EU knew they could shaft us with no repercussion, we are governed by morons it’s as simple as that!

Most hauliers who have commented on the present situation have mentioned que jumping by foreign lorries though it may be that many of them are empty. I have also heard it said that many foreign hauliers and their drivers are refusing to enter the UK because they fear serious delays in getting back. The biggest problems seem to be in consignments to French and Belgian ports, I wonder why? Apart from sandwich confiscation I have not heard of too many problem in Dutch ports.
If the collective will exists there is a solution. If bloody mindedness exits there is not.
As far as UK companies opening up in EU countries this was always going to happen. Some will simply open offices and warehouse distribution centres and a few will relocate entirely. Some EU companies are doing just that in the UK so that they can continue to service and supply product here. Others will meet a backlash of their leader`s creation if common sense does not prevail.

Good man Bob! Blame frog and Jerry and even the Belgians for Brexit.😂
Try the usual old Brexiteer notion, that the Dutch are really British by nature, and if the Brits want to harm themselves, they too would be happy to follow suit🤭.
Not alone have the Dutch taken merciless advantage of Brexit, by taking a huge amount of financial services work from London, but they now turn their noses up at British pigs heads😂😂😂.
Oh, wait a minute, the Dutch have a big pork industry! What’s bad for British pigs heads, is good for Dutch pigs heads. Nothing personal you understand! Just business.

The cloggers can keep their pork , wouldn't feed it to the dog
