The NI/ROI Protocol

Laugh loud and deep at least once a day...
Read the link...

Tut, tut. Fear not however, another Lord, Lord Trimble is taking legal action against the Protocol.

Meanwhile the Downing St., legal dept cannot be arsed dealing with such mundane and pointless matters such as the EU, the Protocol, NI, the Union, or international law for that matter. Much more important to focus on the exploding Greensill matter, put it to bed, so Boris, Cameron, Rishimoneygrowsontrees et al, can continue doing what their blue blood status entitles them to do. Suck the little fella dry......

"incompatible with the GFA, for which 71% of people in Northern Ireland voted in favour in 1998, while 56% of them voted to remain in the EU in 2016".
I note Ms McKay fails to mention exactly which part of the Belfast Agreements prevents a border on this island while allowing a de facto border between parts of the United Kingdom.

Brexit brought the sea border, simply because the DUP rejected any and all other solutions proposed, whilst having no alternative of their own to offer.

Speaking of majority of voters in NI. Yes, the vast majority supported the GFA, but the DUP rejected it.
Now the vast majority voted remain, but once again the DUP is hell bent on rejecting the will of the people.
Do you spot any trends here?

Yes, your posts all follow a trend.

It’s the year 2021 Ireland should be one country now. Not bothered which end swallows the other up but it needs to happen one way or the other.

I suppose the ROI could always rejoin the fold. ;)
It would appear from the history by wikipedia that Roi did not leave any fold.
History of Ireland
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In 1916 the Easter Rising succeeded in turning public opinion against the British establishment after the execution of the leaders by British authorities. It also eclipsed the home rule movement. In 1922, after the Irish War of Independence most of Ireland seceded from the United Kingdom to become the independent Irish Free State but under the Anglo-Irish Treaty the six northeastern counties, known as Northern Ireland, remained within the United Kingdom, creating the partition of Ireland.
A border was created that time where there was no natural geographic , cultural or historical divison of the island and also without a vote of the people at both sides of that border which has caused no stop resentment and war and violence since
The very same situation is currently starting to emerge with the protocal where the actual people it affects were not given a vote or their concerns were not honestly taken into account.
The PM made no effort to explain how it was going to without imposing another new division. The last thing NI want in my opinion

This problem lays fairly and squarely at the feet of the likes of Starmer, Hammond, Soubrey, and many more, who rather than accept, back and implement a UK wide democratic decision, chose to fight against it and side/collude with the EU.
Boris Johnson, had no other option in the short term, other than to do what has come to pass to break the UK free from that resultant paralysis.

Couldn’t care less either way for me. Ultimately their arguing about religious crap that is based on fictitious stories. None of its real.
Prove it !!! :scratchhead::scratchhead:its called faith . To say that the NI problem is about religion is a gross oversimplfacation of the current situtation .
The threads concerning NI are a bottomless swamp and place for the foolhardy :):):) Hit reverse while you can !!!!
One of the givens is of course that all belivers will unite against the unbeliever !!! Even when thecan agree on nothing else :):)
