The NI/ROI Protocol

The British government is in a really tricky place. Pull anymore unilateral stunts, by refusing to abide by its agreement with the EU, automatically means trouble from Biden in respect to any potential deal with USA, and draws attention from Australia etc, which is finalising its deal with UK. Long term the UK goal is the much vaunted deal with USA. Even after Biden is gone, the Irish political lobby in congress will scupper any deal with UK long into the future.
Bottom line from London perspective, is union with NI is not worth the price to pay, if it gets in the way of a deal with USA. That union with NI is now in the departure lounge, and comforting for London, is that NI‘s biggest pro union party the DUP, signed the warrant when they sold their soul to the ERG.

Have to agree, Bozza measures success by the number of trade deals he can achieve good or bad. And he is willing to throw anybody and anything under the bus in order to achieve this. The current pathetic situation regarding cross boarder trade between the EU and the UK must have the Brussels mandarins laughing all the way to the bank.

25% of 5.5% in total, they'll survive.
Exports: The top exports of Germany are Cars ($145B), Vehicle Parts ($62.9B), Packaged Medicaments ($56.8B), Planes, Helicopters, and/or Spacecraft ($31.8B), and Blood, antisera, vaccines, toxins and cultures ($29.8B), exporting mostly to United States ($131B), France ($115B), China ($107B), Netherlands ($87.7B), and United Kingdom ($86B).

Paddy Biden will certainly have a big say in how this plays out.
Meanwhile back at Bizzy Lizzie’s ranch, the pesky Australians are turning the screw and threatening to walk away from the trade talks. Bloody hell man, but the world is upside down. Aussies should show some respect….

Article 6 Parts 1 and 2 of the Protocol states:-

“Nothing in this Protocol shall prevent the United Kingdom from ensuring unfettered market access for goods moving from Northern Ireland to other parts of the United Kingdom’s internal market”
and
“…Having regard to Northern Ireland’s integral place in the United Kingdom’s internal market, the
Union and the United Kingdom shall use their best endeavours to facilitate the trade between
Northern Ireland and other parts of the United Kingdom

The more we see of the EU's way of doing things if I was slightly unsure which way to vote in 2016 I'm really glad to have voted the way I did, free trade agreements are fine but only when it suits the EU's purposes.
Think Boris should take a page out of Farage's book of negotiating & tell them to go feck themselves!

but the EU is looking for nothing more that we are self's are looking, that stuff entering there markets meet their standards. same way that when the Australian deal was announced , all the farming press demanded that all food must meet UK standards
It's far harder getting stuff in to NI than it is in to mainland europe , why's that I wonder .

Considering some of the crap that floats around some of their EU countries I'm pretty sure they can take it that the UK matches their standards
