The NI/ROI Protocol

Very nearly caused a diplomatic incident a couple of weeks ago when a runaway haylage bale I made almost invaded ROI.
Fortunately a grovelling Statement and appeal for calm was prevented..

There you have it. Scroll down through the article. Hugh Connolly’s farm yard for example.
And separately a pub with a door to the north, and another to the southern mainland.

seem the NI protocol has a wider influence that just NI/GB trade with british sugar suing the government over it tariff reduction. claiming it breaks article 10 of the NI protocol [ are we allowed to call the NI protocol NIPs or would that be to PC incorrect] if British sugar win it will badly affect what the UK can and can not do with state subs/tariffs/trade deals

I can't wait to see UK proposals for solving the Irish Border Brexit issue next week... after all, they've had more than 5 years now since the referendum to fix that one... you might have thought they had a solution before they created the problem but...

If this article is correct It is obvious that lot of land had no natural border. It dosent take a fool to see why it could not be sealed with the army during the troubles and anyone that thinks they could without the full cooperation of everyone would want their head examined. It looks like again that bit of land will be the modern troubles of Brexit,

I'm guessing nobody is actually stupid enough to be surprised at that happening.

Funny how the authorities would give you a dressing down if you are working 10ft off the ground and not using safety nets and wearing a safety harness, hard hat and hi-viz, yet 50ft high unstable bonfires are built in towns and cities year in year out.
I guess it's similar to the RSPCA not going into gypsy camps to stop dog fighting.

Anyway, happy twelfth everyone, there will be a bit less bale plastic laying about farms next week

so some stupid teenager run up to a bonfire with a tin of petrol to put it on a lit fire. set fire to himself, and now people are are all upset about this poor little lad who badly burned and we need to stop the bonfires.

now personally if a person is STUPID enough to run up to a LIT bonfire to pour petrol on it. he needs removed from the gene pool

A lad around here calls it natural selection.

Oh dear. Frosty didn’t understand what he negotiated. Bunter didn’t care so signed it anyway. Arlene and the flat earthers gambled the farm and lost.
Poor things…..

Get a grip. This is just political point scoring from both ruling elites. Just that the European lot are making a big deal if it for a purpose. To pee off the sentiment of any support to the EU from any of us who might have voted to remain. Cooked meats or my Melton Pork Pie being posted to my friend in Londonderry. Big deal. Burkes. the lot.

personal i think the protocol is here to stay. Both sides get too much from it, as setting aside the whole terrorist thing, it a border that by it very nature is impossible to police to a standard that the WTO would accept, and would open up a lot of problems for both side, further down the road.

what i can see is smoke and mirrors. Boris will announce that the border is now on the border. it just all the checks at 40 miles away in "secure" locations. and we get a big song and dance on how Boris/DuP have forced the EU to back down, for this i'm sure Boris will give away something that he thinks doesn't matter and in a years time everyone will be mad again.

in the meantime Boris will either force the DUP/ or put in a westminster MP to run the Protocol right. Proper IT systems that will flag on loads that need to be checked, and that will skimpily the paperwork so there less mistake's in it and easier/quicker to fill in, a trusted trader system, so that the likes of the big supermarkets don't even have to have checks. having more of the checks that need to be done, being done on the GB side of the Irish sea, when the lorries are waiting for the ferries anyway, maybe even on the ferries.

what ever happens it be stretched out till the spring of next year when the DuP will have to face the public in a vote. so they want the (pretend) good news of how the beat the EU and the protocol. so we should all vote for them. because in today UK the optics is more important that the facts, and who cares about problems in the future when you can look good now

so if your neighbour said he (who you have shared a field with him for 40 years) that he didn't want to share the field any more, but don't worry he would put up a fence to make sure his cows didn't graze your land. and then didn't, you would still trust him ?
