Meanwhile the sunny uplands are further away than ever…..

Tourism to the UK is crashing. Here's why
https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/uk-tourism-decline-restrictions-cmd/index.html
My daughter's English immersion trip, which would have been London , was to Dublin. Why? Because they only need their ID cards not Passports. Don't think London will be bothered with again as it's much less hassle for the staff to plan. Think of the value of that lost business, now and going forward, and replicate it across the EU education system.

From my perspective the NIP must not be seen as successful , Northern Ireland business is booming , and that is because NI is still in the Single Market. And that would be proof of the harm being wrought by Brexit.
Boris would rather get his pet oaf to keep pushing until the EU say enough, he can then pull A16 and have a trade war . The useful idiots will cheer him on and it'll take everyone's mind off the sleaze and corruption problems.
The Tories don't give a sh!t about NI, it costs them more a year than the EU did, get rid and save a few quid. People will just be collateral damage.
Don't forget Boris saying" f**k business" and " let the bodies pile high".
Elements of both the Conservative/Unionist Party probably would be happy enough to get shot of us. But that decision it not theirs to make, it is up to the people of NI to decide that.
For what its worth at least the Tories contest elections here, while Labour bans candidates standing in NI under the labour banner.

while that what the GFA does tell us, given that every government (UK/RoI/EU/USA )have shown a complete disregard for the GFA when it suits them. i wouldn't put much faith in it. and lets face it if England did decide to kick us out there very little we can do about it

What if they offered a referendum?
Become part of the Republic of Ireland
Remain part of the uk

that the border poll that is build into the GFA that the sec of state for NI has to call once he believes that it can be won. currently the latest polls show little more than 30% support for NI to Join RoI.
even if there was a border poll tomorrow and people voted to join the RoI, the RoI has to have a ref to see if they want us. If that is won (and there no guarantee that that ref would be won) you then get down to the messy business of merging 2 countries to make a new one (and who pays for what). You could be looking at 10years + for that to be sorted out

There was a number of legal and academic types putting forward argument there is no need for a referendum in the ROI last month in the event of a majority in NI voting for joining with the ROI.

A border poll can only be called at the behest of the Secretary of State for NI if he/she believes there is a majority for constitutional change, the exact criteria for such an event is left pretty vague under the Belfast Agreement.
Really?
Talking to someone who runs a business in NI, they reckon if it was offered it would be to join the Republic or even Independence, but didn't know how to pay for Independence.

One could almost believe there are entire chapters to the agreement that no one else seems to know about. Note Irish nationalism/republicanism references to the "spirit of the agreement" rather than the actual text.

yea saw that, they seem to be scared that they might not win the ref in the RoI which would be very very bad for the nationalists.
also if you listen to them they seem to be saying that without a RoI ref. they don't have to have the massive reforms need to the RoI, and they can do what every they want. there a lot of nationalist out there who still think it 1921, not 2021 and all the British/prods will "magical" leave like they did when RoI was formed

And here's the rub, you say this and they say different.
Reckons it's just DUP supporters shouting the loudest. Only one way to find out.

no it not, a number of polls have been carried out in the last year, by the likes of Liverpool uni, lucidtalk and others. all show that there isn't the support for a UI yet. even SF are not shouting for a poll right now, they just want the "talks" about the poll
