It's not illegal. You risk enforcement and having to take things down but it's not a crime and if you want to risk the money, bung something up. Doesn't have to be brilliant for the first 4 years. Tenancy agreement, TV license, phone line and so on. Replace with better later. No financial advice of course.

i have a big garden. can i have a planning permission to build for my children, or is this just a farmer thing?
Nope, farmers are subject to the same planning rules as everyone else, some apply and get it, some don’t.
Nowt stopping you applying for planning in your garden, wether you get it or not is down to the planners...........and quite possibly how good a Case you and any agents working on your behalf present.
