The premier collection

I've been told too steer clear of anything on the blues side from the "elite" list. Basically the ebv figures are not good enough too rely on. Several new bulls including 2 i believe from @GenuineRisk that look like they could be topping the beef advantage list. Newpole easy seems to be a very popular choice. Going to go with Lodge Hamlet Limousin for red cows.

If you’re looking for a bull from Genus that might put a bit more oomph into your calves I’d look at bulls with either NewPole Just A Minute or NewPole Harriet as the dam. Those two are related and really good cows. They are at the top of the Advantage list in the genetic tests, we understand.

Kojak and Koyote are the 2 I’ve been recommended. Both by Harriet by the looks of it.

My chap recommended that a bull called Dev ( I've forgotten the prefix) would tick my boxes.

The resident blue calf seller on here steered me towards Newpole easy.

So to make it simple I bought both.

He’s getting on a bit now but still producing! Have any of you considered N Chalky White from Semex out of same dam as Easy? Just a thought as he gets good calves and very easy calving too.

Yes, we are proud of the boys - their dam is still going strong (although some would say, and I’d agree, that she hasn’t had a hard life!) at 16 - she’s got a bull just on Stud in Ireland, we have two daughters here and sold an Easy full sister to Genus so the cow’s done good for sure!

16 years old!?
I thought BB ped cows could only have a side-delivery 3 times, possibly 4 at most? Or do BB cows calve naturally now?

Plenty of BBped cows calve naturally probably more than Lims these days.... get the odd one that doesn’t but majority do.

Uvita had just the one ped calf, herself, Bouncer, who worked the Newlands dairy herd for years. We flushed Uvi after she had Bouncer to Janvier de Warichet and got Chalky White then we flushed her to Greystone Turbo, the calf was spotted by Genus’ bull buyers at six months and basically, she’s been flushed a couple of times a year since then on contract. Basically, she’s earned more flushing than calving in. Hence why I said she’s had an easy life! That said, we’ve an 18yo ped cow here who calves in every year to a ped, never seen her calve, still going strong.
