The price of imported Pork.

Had a man come to our Farmers Market stall today, who said that he was buying Pork sides for his meat business @ £1 50/kilo, from Belgium. If its true, no wonder the job is hard!

Our man put the price down last week. I could hardly believe it. The coffers are still empty here from earlier on.

I have read some things about the German herd contracting substantially which would be my reaction if I was getting 120 p per kg (although I know that it is difficult to compre our prices to theirs because of bonus payments etc)

This should mean (if true) that hanging on by ones fingernails should come out right to the end

I'm assuming didn't have a stall, but was commenting that he buys it a lot cheaper for his business. As with the grain, red tractor means nothing once you get into the catering/wholesale trade. They will buy whatever they can make the biggest margin on.
Not quite a "like, " but yes, this. He spoke to my Missus, apparently he has a facility somewhere on Anglesey processing 2000kg weekly. It would seem that F A is what Farm Assurance counts for aswell as what it stands for!

Gammon joint from Morrisons (so presumably UK supply), £5/kg, and delicious too.
Morrison’s pledge that all their fresh unprocessed meat is British - Gammon is cured so that may or may not be included.

Yes, as usual you have to listen to what the supermarkets don't say just as carefully as to what they do say. Tricky bustards..
