Won’t be much time for questions after Moseley spouts off.

It's a utter joke - Just a chance to tell us how great it is, what value they add and how everyone loves the brand and wants higher standard, how they will keep trying to make other countries and every UK brand and retailer use the brand (which they will bill them for use of) and then it will all be ok ............

How can they possibly pretend there is any independence in such a event when they run / moderate and choose the questions ? No better demonstration of the level of arrogance we are dealing with here

there really is no point watching it or wasting time submitting questions there is no way they will ask or answer

Yep!

How we are funded
Red Tractor Assurance is a not for profit company, owned and funded by the British farming and food industry.

Our income comes from:

  • Assured members – a small proportion of the annual fee paid to certification bodies is passed back to us. This royalty is specified on the invoice and will depend on business size and sector.
  • Licensees – food businesses who pay to use the Red Tractor consumer logo on food they pack

Isn't it somewhat ironic that the only premium Red Tractor have ever indubitably generated is the one that they themselves get paid for the use of their logo? Not a penny of that gets back to the farmers who they are supposed to benefit.

They're going for world domination
It’s worst than that they are looking at other schemes and trying to one up them regardless if it’s actually warranted or not, LEAF is another uk scheme, that has very few members, and it’s this they see as having more robust requirements so they must up there game. Next you will see these other scheme up there standards then red tractor follow on again.

what we need to do is replicate one of the schemes that feed mills except and Import Under and all join that.
So the mills cannot block the sale of our produce to them as we meet a standard they except.

I think the fundamental thing that needs to be expressed is it’s not the Red tractor scheme rules that is assuring my crop it’s me.
And that red tractor has added no improvement to my practices that have any actual value from a consumers point of view.
I have never used bait in buildings where crop is stored, it’s in my intrests to make sure the crop is stored problem free, at low moistures and cool, bug free and vermin free.
I used an agronomist before and I would after I left red tractor, I by fertiliser like 95% of farmers from merchants or buying groups, same for my chemicals, what extra assurance is red tractor offering the public or mills, from my perspective it’s zero.

I asked myself what do I do now that I didn't before red tractor, the only answer is paper work, all the underlying practices that red tractor require evidence for that have any impact on the actual crop that move into the food chain in one way or another, I already did. So nearly every rule they have added in the last 10 years has been pointless.
They now want to move into new areas that have zero to do with assurance of my crops.
That’s by there own admission as they rate them selves as top from crop assurance they have now created new catagories to compete in environment and training.

My suggestion is that we will boycott all the new regulations, and a lot of the other pointless ones.

my suggestion is we go through the red tractor rules pull out those that apply to assurance. For crops and we only comply to them and them only.

It’s a work to rule protest. The rules that actually apply to crop assurance.

And pointless record keeping should be top of that list.
If you use an agromanist and buy fert, and chemicals from a reputable suppliers then basicly your assured.
If you keep your stores clean store your crops in secure stores and manage them to minimise problems.
A simple printed copy of the industry standards and a signature saying you apply them.
What is left?
I can nearly guarantee thatthat is basicly all they look for from imports.
Because that’s basicly what every farmer in the world does.
And I would argue that using an Agronomist, is likely as high as they need to go, that and certs for the spray operators.

I will repeat again the red tractors rules have had zero impact on my farm management practises, the only impact has been on paper work and paper pushing doing things for the sake of being seen to do them.
What will bee keepers do with the 48hrs notice would now have to provide them with, if I am using insecteryides. And who wants to wait 48 hrs to apply them after you realise you need to apply them to a crop? If the weather window is now and the problem is now, who is going to wait 48hrs?

only way to comply with the bee keeper reg is to remove all bee hives from our land

well done Red Tractor ....... what a great move for the environment that will be

We have had dozens of hives here for decades, never have we had a problem yet now I need to pay some idiot to tell me what I should do and as a result will have to tell all my bee keepers to remove their hives because they just became a barrier to me being able to operates without yet another layer of paperwork and a action to complete

I don't even use insecticides !! ......... but the bee hives will have have to go as it will be the easiest way to make sure his new rule adds no extra work or complication to my business

I was thinking of checking in to it. Just to see what happens

I was thinking we should boycott it ........ but they wouldn't care, the box that said none NFU members had opportunity would be ticked and this is all this is about after I pointed out the Christine Tacon ast week that inequality

It will be a utter joke though with pre selected questions only, Jim Mosley will no doubt tell us how wrong farmers are and how amazing red tractor is

I think we should start a thread here JUST for the questions we want to ask and then all refer them to to that thread ? ALL questions should be in the public domain

So having registered for the latest Red Tractor 'consultation' they cant even stay away from pedalling lies in the acknowledgement of registration for the Webinar.....fairly obvious where this is going.
Thank you for registering for "Red Tractor Standards Review Webinar for Scheme Members ".
Red Tractor was established 20 years ago to reassure consumers that food bearing its logo was safe and responsibly produced. Initially the focus was on food safety, animal welfare and environmental protection but as with all industries, the scheme has evolved to meet changing demands and expectations.

This successful evolution has meant that Red Tractor has become the UK’s most trusted food assurance scheme. Many retailers, caterers and brands use Red Tractor as part of their buying specification. This provides farmers and growers with considerable market access, without needing to meet several differing standards and different audits.

However, at a time of ever-increasing scrutiny, preserving the public’s trust in UK agriculture has never been more important. We cannot afford to be complacent; it is vital that Red Tractor’s standards move with the times to ensure they address changes in legislation, best practice and reflect emerging issues on consumer’s minds.

Your views are important to us. We want to hear directly from our farmer members, and to answer questions about the proposals which have been put forward for implementation in November 2021.

Red Tractor CEO Jim Moseley will be joined by guests from across the supply chain.

Questions may be submitted in advance. Joining instructions will be sent ahead of the session.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions of the panel at the end of the session but should you have any questions that you would like addressing during the presentation please forward them as below.

Don't boycott it. Just what they want. Submit a fairly innocuous question for approval but when you get your moment let fly off script.

you don't think for a moment they will let us ask in person, do you!

they will be reading them out from the pre-approved list

what odds do you reckon Ladbrokes would give on them letting me ask Jim Mosley a question ................. ??
