Don't think NFU have done themselves any favours at all by putting that out.

If they just came out and said "we got it wrong, RT isn't working, and it must be changed ASAP", then farmers might actually get behind the NFU.

At the moment, I think they're digging an ever deeper hole, and looking like inexperienced muppets.

I can't think many farmers will miss the few advantages of NFU membership while they replace those at the top table.
Especially if it results in the NFU being a little more sincere and changing tack supporting its farmer members instead of going against them over the RT issue.

What a load of waffle.

Question 1. Does the NFU own Red Tractor? No.

OK that’s a pretty clear opening statement, and then 5 lines later in the SAME answer they say they are co-owners😡😡

Perhaps I was supposed to have lost interest after their first word a skipped straight to question 2???

Putting out a statement like that really gets my back up and will be a big reason why I won’t rejoin the NFU, which is a shame as some stuff they do is really good. Our local secretary has been a great help the last 12 months and has been trying hard to persuade me to join again.

Yep, some really good Branch Secs about, mine is excellent.

Are you insured with NFUM? Loss of a member from the NFU will impact on his business, as the former Members will not be stopping with NFUM as readily as their rates are less competitive...

If the NFU don't own it and cannot influence it then why who does own it and who can influence it?

As I read it Stuart Roberts is the only NFU rep on the board who ostensibly has a role which is answerable to the members. So thousands of farmers are shovelling money into a scheme to pay for market access for a market they had already had not so long ago.

How much do the processors and users of the RT label pay for the having the label on the produce - Would be interesting to know? After all its not for profit isn't it?

Does the NFU own RT? No, the NFU owns AFS who owns RT... So, the NFU does own RT then?

they are becoming more slippy than the best of MP's

they can not bring themself to give a straight answer to a straight question clearly

Twitter is becoming a parody - the defense for RT is being made by either existing NFU officers, ex NFU officer or those that want to be NFU officers :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

50% of shoppers may "recognise" RT when asked, but I doubt that 1% will change their buying habits because of it (ie not buy something because it's not RT)

Good for the retailers (BRC) though when asked if they "buy ethically"

I got an email from my sister earlier this week with that "myth buster" on it.

It was her response to me telling her we'd quit NFU because of Farm Assurance stupidity

My brother in law is a big noise with NFU 2 counties away.

What disturbs me is that he listens from the top down & try's to tell us further down that we should step in line & do as we are told. Because they know best !

This isn't the Army, it's a Farmer's Union, funded by farmers and it should be working for farmers, not creating hassle and unnecessary expense for farmers.

They claim not to own RT, but with NFU Scotland & UFU must own over half of it as previously mentioned.

Here`s a story to show what a farce rt really is. OH and daughter shopping in Morrisons at Dalington today, both spot a bird (robin) flying about around the fresh produce, told a shop assistant `oh we know, has been in for a few days but we are not allowed to catch it`    When I was daft enough to be rt inspected,if a bird was seen flying about my corn store i would have been shut down instantly, probably needed lots of stupid questions answered about what i did about it. bird shitting on food in a shop :wtf:
