What's with the news that the USA administration have increased their imports of Russian oil by 43% and are importing huge amounts of Russian fertiliser to gain the farmer vote, whilst urging Europeans to cease trading with Russia?
Surely that's not the American way, so it can't be true?

I understood that the USA have been or were or are exporting oil and have done so for a few years, for the first time in decades almost?

It is possible they import crude, refine it and then re-export finished products though.
The refinery capacity is the value!! Crude oil has little value to any company or individual that is not in the refining business.

Trump and fake unless you can find a link to a reputable source. The BBC ITV or The Times of London will do fine.
The US does import a certain amount of fertilizer from Russia particularly Potash, but also Nitrogen and Urea. And I think Biden has banned the import of some fert but exempted mineral based ones like Potash. :scratchhead:

Great to see a 20 year old politics student in full flow. Takes me back 40 years.
Makes some good points.
read FG, sanctions are hurting farming here but they may well be helping in Russia.
they will adapt and overcome our solution is to import from somewhere more expensive.
time will tell
@Kiwi Pete put it quite well
