You are really unaware of what he has been up to with his mates? Stripping a country with probably the worlds richest natural resources bare, while the bulk of his countrymen are on the brink of poverty him and his mates live like emperors of old
That sounds more like BoJo and his aristocratic mates.

I used to think it was just the old exiled Russian Bolsheviks looking to settle old scores who were the prime drivers of anti Russia propaganda, but now I suspect If the truth be known the whole Russia persecution meme is just a pantomime. The Western world needs a bogeyman and Putin got chosen, even though Xi in China is far more worthy of the title. I bet behind all the bellicose statements, that all these World leaders, Putin and Xi included are all of one mind as to what they intend to do concerning our world, and they are very much in the process of making it happen. Everything else is just a distraction.

I was in Russia in 1991- 1992 and a more humiliated country you couldn’t find. Beggars were everywhere and if people weren’t begging then they were lining the streets to selling whatever possessions they could. It really was dreadful to see. Putin won’t forget this and for sure he blames the west. He’ll never be our friend but it’s probably not a good idea to make him our enemy we’ve got much more in common with the Russians than the Chinese . So it would be better to work with him than against him. Obviously that doesn’t mean you let him into Ukraine .

Spot on, and I'd add that it's entirely reasonable and practicable to be a friend to Russia without allowing it to put weight about in Eastern Europe.

There is much talk about how the West needs a bogeyman but I think the same is true of Putin, distractions abroad help occupy the minds of his citizens at home.

As others have said, Russia is a vast country with immense natural resources. Only it is controlled by an Elite cabal of gangsters who are loyal to the government. At least the Chinese try to do their best for the average citizen, at least some of the time.

i must admit i'm a bit pro russian so i'll offer a 'sympathetic' scenario.....remember the old communist domino theory' ?.....states fall one after another..... well 'spin' it in today;s world

the old east european states want to be close to eu and nato and thats fair enough after soviet rule......BUT as these states join eu then ,like dominos, nato edges closer to russia and the less secure they feel....if there are nato troops near russia's border in ukraine they could be less than 300 miles from moscow......indeed just in range of battlefield nuclear weapons.....how i wonder would the usa react to the russians being 300 miles away from washington?,,,,cuban missile crisis anybody?.......nato ,meanwhile, took a lot of critiscism a while back.....what better than a military crisis to regain prestige?

We are all over the Arabs who really despise us and our culture. There’s little to choose between the ruling classes in Saudi’s, Kuwait Qatar etc and the Russians but we seem to accept what the Saudis do but keep telling the Russians what they should do. For me I’d rather be friends with Russia than the Muslim Middle East however it seems for our leadership old habits die hard.Possibly it’s down them knocking off all the relatives of European royalty.

Well for a race that despises us and our culture there were a hell of a lot of them in Lonfon last friday when we were there.
Good and bad in all races and countries

I think you'll find the elite Cabal Gangsta's are the ones who cheated President Trump out of a landslide victory! You cant get more "Gangsterish" than that!! But thankfully its all coming apart at the seams now and Nancy intends to have her 15 minutes of fame next 😉

I agree with you about Eastern Europe being allowed into the EU. It's within the Russian sphere of influence and the Russian's don't like it. It is another reason I would never support an EU army as the move will be hugely destabilising.

So why does Russia fear Europe, could it be to do with the fact they know how they stuck the knife into countries for 30 odd years after the second world war. Stealing every last ounce of their resources, executing their possible leaders, subjugating them, planting native Russians into stolen property, taking innocent citizens into their gulag as slave labourers. Forcing Eastern Europe into an abject dismal period of poverty just because they happened to be on the wrong side of a line dictated by Stalin.
Putins fear of the Ukraine is because he is concerned that Russian people will ask the question, why cant we be like them?

In Putin's mind Ukraine is already part of Russia.
