The shame of the English

The short answer is 'crap' but as one example the 'treat EU citizens as bargaining chips' came straight out of the starting blocks

Wrong .. the UK have guaranteed EU nationals and provided schemes to integrate EU citizens living in the UK.

What have the EU done ?

Maybe, just maybe, and if you can't understand any other language than English try using Google to translate news from, say, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Finland and see how they report Brexit. Totally (make that TOTALLY) different tone.

They were there WAY ahead. And the 'promise' of the UK is worth spit. That's one reason why so many are granted 'Pre-settled status' - guarantees sweet FA but does conveniently get their identities. WIndrush here we come.

I see you've failed to point out the EU have done NOTHING.

Whilst the UK has already completed 2+ million applications.

I can tell you have no friends/acquaintances in Europe or you would know that is an outright lie.
ANd the UK has not 'done the applications', the terrified EU citizens (many of them here for decades) have done them. Even those whose passports contain the stamp saying Indefinite Leave to Remain have been forced to (shows how far you can trust the UK) And if you want to know, do as I say and scan the foreign media and you'll find out. As I wrote, the UK government promises are worth spit.

Just saw an apt and very sad comment on Twitter> 17 years after the Tories were outed as the Nasty Party, Britain is now rapidly becoming the nasty country.
I think I'd agree - about calling myself British. (Though these days I'd rather tick the 'prefer not to answer' box given the way this country has been behaving.)
I always say British. Working on the logic there’s half a chance I might not be thought English.
I should learn some cz, maybe I could claim to be cz here with a few words
What a lot of left-liberal self (i.e. UK) hating rubbish. Fortunately the vast majority of us aren't like you lot, you do scream and shout, make banners, organise 'workshops' and have demo's, many are 'activists' too... :ROFLMAO:

While the rest of us get on, we vote, and we do our duty as necessary, while you carp and snipe, and go on marches too no doubt, for 'democracy'. Prigs, liars and hypocrites the lot of you, I doubt that any of you have the slightest idea of the real value of this country. Horribly - for you - a British poet summed it up rather well, 'What does he know of England, who only England knows?' (Sadly, it seems Kipling couldn't get a rhyme for UK to work... :woot:)

The utter hypocrisy of you position is astonishing, all of these 'faults' you see in the UK are there with interest in many, in fact very probably, most other countries - but our sins are always blacker than theirs, aren't they? Take a squint at your beloved Europe past and present, individually and collectively, and then come and admit that the UK is no worse than any and far better than most - not that you've the moral courage to do so.

Ha ha ha ha

I applied for residency in Belgium 20+ years ago

Why didn't you apply on day 1 ?
We applied and were granted 10 years residency cards when we came.
This was stopped in 2004 , as EU citizens did not need to apply for the rights, they were automatically granted them with their EU passports.
So czechmate couldn't apply for what he didn't require.

Yes you don't need to apply but you can still apply to become a citizen and if you are emigrating then that is normal to do so.

Quite a rant.
Not interested in addressing it, other than to point out a gaping flaw in your whole post. If you try to read it again, you will see my post is certainly not anti UK (or the word I used was British)

Not a rant, home truths. You lie, poorly, again, and demonstrate some ignorance too. 'British' is the correct demonym for and of the United Kingdom. (Don't use words if you don't know what they mean (y))

No, in France they would not process applications from EU citizens. They also refused to reissue our residence cards.
Only third country nationals were issued cards.
We all have now had to make applications

Anyone who is not French can apply to become a French Citizen but it takes 5 years residence plus submission of evidence, interviews and demonstration of fluent usage of the French Language.
