I did have a count up and realised i/we had 8 pairs of duals we only have 6 tractors.

Correct. But this year, you'd need a pair of waders to get into, let alone across the field to test it that way. Also waterproof leggings and a hat. Then a huge roll of bog paper to wipe all the mud off your arse after testing if the soil is warm enough to plant.

Fast forward to August: I wonder if the merchants will still have that "sh!t on their shoes" look, when someone asks for £25 tonne, or £50 an acre for wheat straw in the swath

The 500 tonnes of straw I chopped last year (because it was apparently "far too dear") would now be worth £60,000 EX FARM, but come harvest new crop straw will be miraculously worth "sweet f**k all" again

I'll try selling through the local straw auction, but I'm 90% certain that it will all go through the chopper.
