The value of Slurries and Manures

Hello All,

I am interested to know what value people place on their slurries and manures, by which I mean, what would it cost someone to take it from you?

Particularly keen to hear from chicken and pig farmers, as I don't imagine that many of the cattle folk have much going spare.

As a dairy farmer we always have more than we need so give as much away as we can. At £30/hr per tanker it does not take much to balance out the fertilizer value of the slurry removed. This time of year we struggle with the slurry until cows go out and we have bare fields to spread on

Ah ok, forgive me, I am so metric that I didn't compute that.

How much do you produce in total? I'd be looking for about 20x that amount ideally, so I'd probably be looking for another few farmers nearby to join in as well.

We are looking to reprocess it, into a saleable product. It's not the most lucrative of options, but if the volume is significant then it adds up per tonne.

Better go and speak to hr in carmarthen with his herd of over 2000 then

I'd love to, if there were some farms within an area that we could serve, it would be worth our while putting a system in.

*edit: with that big of a herd we could probably do quite a lot for the place, and be able to pay for the privilege.

We use a system to extract the dry matter and produce an enriched compost-material/ fertiliser.

We have been looking to site a processing centre for a wee while, just need to find a group of farms close together with sufficient quantities of slurry.
